The next heat wave!

I have the Hoover 300 air purifier which is good 👍 It works well as a fan on max, but is noisy, and works really well at night in sleep mode which is quite quiet and blows out a gentle stream of cool air. It’s definitely much better than a fan with allergies. I have had a surveyor round today to quote for professionally fitted air con. It is expensive, but I have tried absolutely everything else to try to keep the temperature in the house down. Hopefully it will be fitted in the next 3 weeks or so.

Thank you. Glad to hear they help!

I don't normally suffer, it's well managed. But clearly the heat and airlessness after a few days was a big trigger.
It was extremely bad 🥴

For mid July the next heatwave is forecasted, I pray they get it wrong (as so many times before). My nanna used to say: if you want to know what the weather will be like, just look out the window 🫣
But still better to be prepared, I buy ice packs when they are on offer and have the fridge stocked up with mugs 😅

My new fan 🪭 It is quite nice and can run for nine hours on a timer without the plug getting hot. It can oscillate and tilt right up at the ceiling and down again on the oscillate function. The only thing is I can't remove the grill to clean the blades when they get dusty. But the instructions say it can be cleaned with compressed air. It's a backup fan in case my other fan stops working ❤️

Segments of the stand can be removed to make it shorter 📏

It looks very good 👍 let’s hope we won’t need them as much as in the previous heatwave 🫣 I am enjoying the cool weather. It’s quite windy here and my parasols are taking some bashings, but when the sun peaks through it is still powerful.
Let’s do a rain dance 💃😅

I'm fed up with the grey cool weather and rain already ha ha. Why can't we have something in between! Like sunny fresh weather all summer and just the occasional overnight shower.

That’s what we have got 23 degrees wind and sun 🌞

Here’s the new air purifier. It has an app for turning it on and off, checking air quality and to remind you when to hoover the filter (once a month). Two year warranty. I have it in auto so it quietly filters the air or speeds up if the air quality gets bad. There is also sleep mode, which turns off the light and has it in the lowest fan setting. And turbo mode to turn the fan right up. You can change the colour of the light - or turn it off. Intended as a nightlight for a child’s bedroom apparently. Or an adult bedroom! It’s big enough to do both downstairs rooms and a bit of staircase area.

You can feel cool air from it - and it’s actually quite cool today already! So might leave it in sleep mode until it gets warmer again! But extremely quiet - I can’t hear anything.

Good job I opened it up to see where the filter sits first because the filter was inside a plastic bag inside it! So if we had just turned it on it wouldn’t be working if there was a plastic bag round the filter. Did read the instructions but …. They were mainly diagrams which I don’t find easy - took us ages to with out how to unscrew the top to take the filter out - only to find out you had to unscrew the bottom 😂. After watching a YouTube video. There is also a little removable panel on the side with what looked like an Ethernet cable socket.., asked Google AI about that and apparently that’s a clever sensor that detects the air quality.

I like being able to adjust or turn it on and off from my phone - and it can be turned on and off by Alexa as well if you connect that up. You can just use it with the buttons on top and no WiFi though.

It looks a bit like a robot - now if only it would also do the cleaning and hoover the floor as well 😂
