Reggie hasn’t been out today he’s popped his head out once but he’s just been in his burrows. He normally comes out at 9-10pm ish. I know I shouldn’t be worrying but I am

It's quite normal. He initially would be exploring the cage, then they go to ground a bit. It can take 10 days to 2 weeks for them to fully start feeling confident in a cage. If you put his bit of veg out and it's gone in the morning you know he's ok. He might wait till the lights are out to come out, so you could try that and sneak down again 20 minutes later to see if he's out.

Yeah I’ve been doing that from 9pm, going upstairs for half an hour with the light off then coming back for half an hour. He should be okay if he’s burrowing about shouldn’t he? It’s just this isn’t his routine he’s normally in the sand bath and checking out what’s in his bowl

Relax! It is very early days and too soon for Reggie to have established a routine. You need to be patient until he's ready to get to know his human family. If you are a worrier you could get a night camera and watch him on your phone from your bed.

Had to laugh at Raffy checking if there's a way out.

It is quite normal for them to be more active the first few days when everything is really new & exciting & they want to explore but then they often go into a quieter phase while they settle in & make a home for themselves, so it’s not unusual not see them for a while, It is early for him to have established any routine, just give it time & go at his pace & he’ll be fine.

update I'm sat across the room watching him and it looks like he's going into his multiple room house and burrowing from in there to the other side of the cage so things are looking good, he's been in his tube and hid a nibble of a gnaw toy, stared at me for 5 mins then tried his wheel

He seems to have settled in already enjoying the lovely home you have provided for him

Thankyou for the reassurance everyone, I just get paranoid becuase I’ve not had my own pet this is the first one that’s solely my responsibility, tbink I need to up my meds haha

I found this huge thing in Reggie’s cage it’s about the size of a 5p or a bit bigger I recon it’s becuase I leave the window slightly open in his room but what the hell is it and will there be more?
