Just checking, when you say a few seeds, do you mean hamster seeds, not apple pips? Apple is fine but they shouldn't have apple pips. I'm guessing you mean hamster mix seeds though

They are lovely sprays you bought for Reggie. You may know this but if not, it is helpful to freeze sprays for one week just in case they have any bugs in them. Just thought I would mention it in case you did not realise.

The reason people freeze hamster food is because there have been occasions of moth outbreaks. Nearly all pet foods contain moth eggs (grim I know) which are too small to be seen by the human eye, They are dormant but in particularly warm weather they can hatch out if you're unlucky! Freezing food for at least a week, kills the eggs. With things like hay there can be little mites etc so it's a good idea to freeze any hay as well, so freezing sprays would be a precaution too. It's a pain when you want to use something straight away as well! But with the food, you could put the bag in the freezer for a week and just take out a daily amount each day for that first week - at least it's had some freezer time and will probably be fine. It can help to always have two bags so one is in the freezer ready to use when you finish the first bag.

What hamster mix have you got for him?

do you have to defrost them too? and my base mix is harry hamster and for variety I've got mealworms, pellets, sunflower seeds and fruit, veg and fresh chicken gonna do one night fruit then one night veg then one night meat to give him variety

They defrost really quickly, being dried foods. Within an hour sometimes. All sounds good!

The meal tonight, the breeder used to give him cucumber so I’ve let him have a few cubes and even added some carrot leaf

I would remove a little of the vegetables. Maz once said she heard somebody say to feed a piece of veg the size of a hamsters ear and that is a great description. Hamsters only need a very small piece of veg.

I cant find his pee spots and I’m panicking I’ve even looked in his house but he’s made a huge nest

Please do not worry. He has only been with you for a few days so he may not have urinated very much. You could let him settle and not touch his cage at all for at least a week. That is what I would do anyway as he is still getting used to his cage and settling in.

It is lovely he has made a nest. He sounds like he has made a nice bed for himself.

I wouldn't worry about that for at least a week. As others on here say - let your nose guide you Wait till you start to smell something. Have you got a potty litter tray? Syrians will usually use one if you put it in a corner of the cage with sand in.

Yeah I have a sand bath but he’s just been rolling in it

Be careful with the meat. It needs to be well cooked and without any seasoning.
Only give him a tiny amount like a one cm cube so he eats it all up.
If he hoards it it could go off and grow harmful bacteria.

For meat, plain cooked roast chicken is fine - no gravies or sauces. Some people get freeze dried chicken pieces as it can be easier, but if you're having chicken anyway he could have a bit. It depends how you cook it. If it's chicken breasts fried in a pan with oil that wouldn't be good for example. I tend to give a bit of meat if we ever have roast dinner as it's plain cooked that way.
