The next heat wave!

Thank you It's supposed to get cooler over the week-end. The main problem with the bedroom we think, is that next to it is a walk in loft room over a single storey extension. The new part/extension is very insulated - the roof keeps the heat in and it radiates to the bedroom! Hence it ends up being the hottest room in the house. However we've lived here nearly 10 years and never had this issue before! So it must be unusually hot and humid.

These blinds work so well I am amazed I didn’t have high hopes but wanted to try anything to keep Nibbles cool. I must say, they are fantastic! It’s very hot yesterday and today and I have managed to keep the temperature at 22 degrees
Although I have two big parasols up the sun still hits the windows. This is where the blinds provide protection

Your blinds are lovely I don't have access to the front of my windows easily or I would get them

I detect a slight hint of cooling down here, some clouds Perhaps Autumn is coming, the days are shortening

I did wonder that. So I've been outside most of today, in the shade - had a job to do. Fine in the shade despite the heat. Enough air today. Came inside and went to the bedroom tonight and it's just as bad! Despite the curtains drawn, fresh air through the window and the air purifier on all day. So I think I'll have to sleep downstairs again which is such an upheaval.

I bought a single sofa bed so that I could sleep downstairs where it’s a bit cooler Still a bit of extra faff tho!

Have a blow up bed here. You plug it into an electric socket and it blows itself up (and you get the air out the same way) - it's a full height bed as well. It's quite comfortable - unless it gets a puncture and goes down in the night! That happened to the first one but I think someone jumped on it .........

I used to have one of those as a guest bed, i loved it it was unbelievable comfy.

They are aren't they I have a queen sized one now as I used to worry about rolling off the single one. Trouble is it fills the living room so no one can get past until you get up

Summer seems to be turning out to be one long head wave. We will need to talk about cool waves at this rate

Well last night was the worst one for the midges. One went up my nose! So that kept me awake for a while and plenty of nose blowing. It's a cool breeze and slightly rainy here today though.

The cheeky little things! I am glad it’s cooler and hopefully the nose squatters are gone

There are still some in the bedroom tonight as well. I guess I'll have to try and find some midge mesh for the window. It's becoming an expensive summer! We've also had a few butterflies in the house. Caught them and set them free again.

Glad the weather is improving. It's sounds strange to say better weather = rainy and windy but if it shifts the midges and makes it easier to sleep then that's good

Yes, they are the reincarnation of my ill fated terracotta wine cooler I must have a look for them. I have ordered some butterfly pea flower tea so can console myself a bit. You have a clever vet

Aw, he is nice. The piggies are staying close to their ice bottles in a wet sock, often lying against the bottles. I like to put their hay into the base of a cat carrier lined with paper towels and then place the bottles of frozen water next to the carrier so the piggies can feel the coolness through the plastic carrier. They make a hay burrow where it is cool and sleep and eat in the carrier in their tunnel

Today is air con installation day! I was soooo happy to see these guys this morning I’m now just a couple of hours away from a cool house!

That looks exciting! It’s quite big the outside unit isn’t it? Although I know there are much bigger ones.

I’ve got some photos so you can see now that it’s up. They have done a pretty neat job with it so it isn’t too intrusive I’m very pleased with it Already, after just one evening in the air con, I am feeling much better!

It's very neat and tidy Is there any risk that it might drip water onto the ornaments on your shelves? It's so great that it is helping, very nice
