Sprite is five months old. We adopted him today from India's hamster rescue.

In the short time he has been here, I have learned, he can give Lilly a run for her money when it comes to loving food. He spent time going around and eating everything in sight.

I had a sunflower heart for him. He sat next to eat for ages, happily eating seeds. I decided I better remove it and he put his little paws on it to try and stop me. 😂

Here he is exploring when he first arrived.

Congratulations! Sprite is adorable and the name is perfect for him.

Hello Sprite 😍
Love his name & I think it really suits him.
He’s having a great time there finding his way around his new home, I can just imagine him with the sunflower seeds too, always a favourite.
He’s a very lucky boy to have found you & I’m really looking forward to seeing more of him.

I have been looking forward all day to meeting your new boy RB. Love the name Sprite and enjoyed watching him start to explore his new home.
Welcome to the forum Sprite. You are a handsome boy and you have landed on your 4 paws in your new home.

I'm late because i was at work but have been looking forward all day to meet dwarfie.

Sprite, you are such a lucky boy and couldn't have wished for a better forever home.

Congratulations RainbowBrite and partner!

Thank you so much everybody. All your comments have made me smile. 🙂

Hello Sprite, it's lovely to meet you 😍 I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more of you. I'm so pleased you put your paws on the sunflower heart to stop your hamster mum from removing it. Start as you mean to go on Sprite 😉 My Albert would have put his head down and charged at me like a bull if I tried any of that nonsense. 🤣💕

Oh Rainbow, he's adorable! He looks happy and active, and not particularly nervous. He has a lovely home to explore :-)

Sprite has been out so much. I have seen him meekat a few times. It is quite windy here and he seems to be listening to the wind.

So cute when he meerkats. He seems quite alert and nosy, confident as well.

He seems so confident. My partner lifted him out the carrier to put him in the cage and he did not even seem to mind. I am waiting to see if he becomes shyer once he has settled in.

Lovely to see he’s still out & about exploring, the meerkating is cute!
I expect he’s got quite used to human interaction at the rescue so I doubt he’ll lose any of that confidence he’s showing although he might have a few quieter days settling in once he’s finished all the exploring.

It would be lovely if he remains confident. What is interesting is, his smell is quite strong. It is an unusual burnt smell. It is a kind of smell I have not smelled before. I can tell when he is out because I can smell him. :)

I've heard that before about male dwarfs :) He is incredibly cute! And he does seem confident, which is lovely. He's enjoying that millet. It's probably partly his personality as well, as I had a hamster from a rescue who wasn't confident at all. More like institutionalised in his own world.

Male dwarf hamsters can have a smell about them. I have noticed that in quite a few male dwarfs but never a female. Ozzy had a musky smell about him and so does Eddie. Pancake as well and more recently Toby.
Sprite will be busy scenting as well which should calm down a bit as he settles in and makes everything his.

I’ve noticed a smell with males too but I can’t say they smelt burnt! They do all have a slightly individual smell though. He does have lots to scent mark in his big new home so that’s probably why it smells quite strong at the moment.

Albert has a smell to him too. Sometimes it's very strong.
Cute little video of Sprite 😍

Sprite was quite active last night and has been out this morning. Before he arrived, I put a whimzee in his watch box and last night he picked it up and carried it away somewhere. How cute. I downloaded lots of cute clips but cannot find them so will wait for my partner to get home to see if he can figure out where they are. I am hoping they will be somewhere and I have not wasted two hours going through the footage!

Aw that is nice he carried the whimzee off. I hope you find the clips!
