It is not. It is a rectangle mesh. That was my concern. It is 1.5cm by 2cm.

Sprite is a bit nervous of the sound of the front door opening. Here he is listening to my partner come home before going to his bowl for some ground flax. He is a slow eater. The video was over five minutes long but I edited it.

He looks more curious than nervous to me doing a bit of a meerkat at the beginning there & maybe startled for a moment but not what I’d call looking nerovus really.
He was enjoying those flax seeds too.

Lovely to see him washing his little face I also think he just looked more curious - not frightened. I think they all do that at first, with door noises. Raffy did too. Getting used to all the new sounds and habits going on etc. Raffy still stops and looks a bit alert if OH is doing something in the kitchen, like a spoon clanking in a cup etc, although he's got used to it now.

Sprite has been out so much. I have seen him meekat a few times. It is quite windy here and he seems to be listening to the wind.

I would not usually talk to such a new hamster but he is so confident I thought I would try. He was totally unfazed and is still out 15 minutes later.

I think he looks quite confident and i wouldn't call him nervous. Sprite wants to know what's going on so he listens.

Maybe your head is still in Robo mode so you half expect him to run away when you talk to him or you worry about scaring him but many dwarfs aren't that shy and some are rather assertive.

That is a very good point. I am still thinking of robos.
