He sounds as though he had a very enjoyable night & must have been so pleased to find his whimzee.
I hope you find the clips too but if you don’t it must have been a very enjoyable two hours watching them!

Sounds like Sprite is settling in to his new home. Hope you find the clips.

Here is the video of Sprite carrying his whimzee.

He tried out his wheel for the first time this afternoon. He looks a bit unsure. It is a 10 inch wheel. If the wheel is too small I have the same wheel but in 11 inches which arrived today.

He looks so sweet carrying off his prize to keep it somewhere safe, he must have been so pleased with himself!
The wheel looks plenty big enough to me & he seems to be running ok, he may just be a bit uncertain because it’s new to him but I expect he’ll get used to it ok. Do you know what kind of wheel he had before?

Sprite looks very happy.

Sprite - I'm going to hide this Whimzee so my new hamster mum can't remove it 🐹😉

The wheel looks a good size for Sprite. What make is that wheel? I don't recognise it.

All I know was it was 11 inches. That is why I wondered if this was a bit small. I am glad you think the wheel looks okay. Hopefully he will get used to it. He only tried it briefly.

It is a Niteangel wheel. :)

Aw he's so clever and strong, carrying that Whimzee all the way up there! I think he looks fine in the wheel. He's just checking it out and trying it out. They often do that at first. It's plenty big enough.

All mine both Russians & Chinese have had 9” wheels & been fine so I’m sure little Sprite won’t have any problems, everything is very new right now so he may need a little time before he’s whizzing in his wheel, lots of other things to explore as well!

Hi Rainbow, congratulations on the arrival of Sprite, he’s gorgeous, love his colouring and his darker stripe along his back and down his head. Great videos, he seems confident and is clearly enjoying exploring his new home and collecting up food. Look forward to hearing more about him as he settles in. 👍

Thank you. He is adorable. He has just been out collecting more food.

He clearly wants to try nibbling everything. Was the journey long to collect him? I think it’s lovely he’s so active. It‘ll be great to watch his character develop.

The rescue drove part of the way. My partner took the train to meet them and then got a taxi back. It was a long journey for Sprite.

He seems to have handled it very well :-) It's so lovely you have a gorgeous hamster!

Something strange just happened. My partner was in the kitchen cooking and Sprite looked excited and then he looked like he tried to escape his cage! He squashed his body flat against the glass but could not climb out as it is slippery. I was watching him from my bed and once he realised I was watching, he ran away! I have some footage but he was out of the camera when the tried to escape. You can see him before and then after when he ran and hid. I wonder what he was thinking.

If he loves food, maybe the cooking smells made him want to get out!

I am now concerned he may try to escape. The grids on the lid are 2cm by 1.5cm and from reading online it looks like a hamster could squash themselves through the holes. I am going to buy some smaller mesh to put on the top to ensure it is safe. Is that a good idea?

I think it might have been the smell of cooking that got him a bit over excited!
He probably wasn’t trying to escape though, they do push up against the side like that sometimes, who knows quite what they’re thinking!

In case of any escape attempts, do you think I should add smaller mesh to the lid?
