Pip the Robo

I’m sure he’ll appreciate a bit of help getting at the seeds inside, he’ll probably have all the rest off & be looking forward to those!

It might be an idea to put another toilet roll in as well though or he might be cross he’s lost the tunnel!

Pips treat looks so tasty! You’ve done a fab job of getting the seeds all on the inside and outside, no wonder hes really enjoying it, double the nibbles 😀

I made a toilet roll boredom breaker for Pip. His special seeds are in the freezer though so I was limited what to stick on it. It’s just a mix of hemp seeds, linseeds and pumpkin seeds. The seeds stuck to the inside quite well but for some reason they weren’t sticking to the outside as well in places. Maybe because I pained both inside and out with the flour and water? Or just a rubbish toilet roll inner! The egg boxes are stiffer.

That's something I'd like to try to make so is it just flour and water paste used to stick on the seeds I've already got sunflower, pumpkin, and millet maybe stick on the odd dried mealworm to attract him by the smell would this be ok

Yes, it's flour and water paste with seeds stuck on and then left to dry.

Rainbow has made a lot of seed treats like this :-) Which is where I got the idea. Beryl has made some too. If you look through this thread, you'll see some of them. Rainbow has had some really creative ideas for boredom breaker treats (and Beryl has had some really lovely ones too).

Maybe you could just get a small bag :)

Pip had a piece of cooked spaghetti last night and a tiny piece of fresh coconut, as well as his veg and hamster mix. I was incorrect about the tube inner - he has taken most of the seeds from the inside, so must have managed somehow. So I'll leave the toilet roll in tact as a tunnel.

His perspex panels have arrived but I'll need to wait for some other things to arrive before I can set the cage up.

He must have enjoyed those tasty treats 😋
I’m not too surprised he managed to get the seeds from inside the tube, he’s really been having some fun with his edible tunnel.

Hope everything you need for his cage arrives soon.

Thank you. I'm waiting for the platforms and haven't a clue when they'll be here. It said 2 to 3 days for international shipping. Tracking shows the parcel was in the Uk early this morning so maybe they'll get here by Monday. I have some other items due as well and they will need to go in the freezer for a week .......

It’s so frustrating having to wait for everything but I’m sure it will be worth it.

It might be better if it takes a bit longer anyway - until Pip has had two weeks after the big change, so he feels more confident.

He seemed to :) I've given it to hamsters before and they all seem to like it. It gets a bit expensive buying the little snack pots of fresh coconut though so I don't do it too often (and end up eating the rest as they only last 2 or 3 days). We did have a whole coconut one week but that doesn't keep forever.

They also like dried coconut flakes.
I'm looking forward to see Pip's new set up.

I should be able to start setting up Pip’s plaza again in the living room after the week end. Most things I sent for have arrived now. Although bizarrely the getzoo platforms and a couple of things from Rodipet, only took 4 to 5 days from the time of ordering. Whereas something from Hope’s Healthy treats in the U.K., still hasn’t arrived.

He will have his old stuff in there as well so it’s mainly the platforms that will be new. And a cork log, if I can fit it in! I had already got a small trixie cork branch a few weeks back intending to put that in Raffy’s cage, but it may fit better in Pip’s. It’s much smaller than I thought it would be.

I got the Rodipet water bottle holder in case the small gap of bars isn’t the right height for a bar mounted bottle. I liked the look of the bucatstate oasis one but it cost the same and some reviews weren’t that good. Rainbow has the Rodipet one. It looks like the spout would be a better height. However it has a really sharp tiny nobbly bit on the back which nearly cut me so not too happy about that. I’m hoping I can sand it off without breaking the whole thing. It comes with a classic bottle but the Ferplast drinky fits in it as well.

It actually matches his sand bath as well. I have made water bottle holders before but found they don’t last that long or have had the odd issue (but maybe I’m just not very good at making them).

I need to glue longer legs on the house and his other small platform before I can do much more.
