Otto looks so cute peeping out of the bedding. Sounds like the cage move went well. He will have more space now which is great as he seems to prefer space to anything else.

Otto moved in after Jack died. And then Davy moved in who was the new boy. Yes, after Davy had moved out and Clive died he was the only Syrian for a while. During this time Otto got up later and later. At one point he didn't get up till 21.15.I wondered how Otto was taking it. He was the new boy before and then the only Syrian wasn’t he? Yes it sounds like he wanted a bit of reassurance and it’s lovely he sat for a stroke and cuddle.
Me tooIt does sound as though Otto is really enjoying his cage & having a good time burrowing, love to listen to them underground & wonder what they’re up to.
I’m curious about Sunday now too….
Always interesting to hear the background stories of the hamsters you rescue so may people out there ignorant of hamsters needs and welfare I was one of them fortunately I did research before bringing Pete home original cage I'd bought had to be exchanged and I would have unwittingly bought shavings for a 2 inch floor covering and the pellets went in the dust bin also the breeder was up to date with current standards so I could get the set up right before bringing Pete into his new home.I'm well aware that Otto looks a bit like a skinny version of Jack but that was not the reason i got him, not consciously anyway.
For practical reasons, i.e. fading eyesight of a pair of oldies, i had been looking for a cream or white male Syrian hamster, ideally short haired and not a baby or youngster.
This afternoon i sat on the floor while Lilly was out again and browsed through the freeads. Otto's ad caught my eye because he was a hamster in a Hamster Heaven going for free. Hamster Heavens sell for around £25/30 so there's always a risk of a hamster falling into unscrupulous hands and possibly ending up as snake food.
Someone was trying to rehome him on behalf of a friend who didn't have the time to give him the care and love he deserved. The family was genuine and really wanted a good home for him.
Otto lived in a Hamster Heaven without a wheel but had a big blue hamster ball. He had toys but they were either dangerous or too small. He had Carefresh bedding but was fed on nuggets. They tried and cared but didn't know about hamsters.
His original name sounded similar to Otto so i called him after one of my late uncles.
Otto is around a year old and tame. He's currently exploring the hall playground.

If Otto doesn't want it I'm sure there's another ham in your house who willOtto looked at his hanging treat and then headed for his food bowl.
Otto is a hamster with a routine though.
He did during the night.Did he go back for it later?
