I was only asking because they sometimes do unucleation operations when there is an eye problem - to avoid pain or further issues later. But I believe they only do it on younger hamsters usually. I'm not sure if 15 months would be considered a good age for such a thing - probably not. They'd need to weigh up any possible suffering or prognosis.

There is always that option as a last resort but Otto isn't showing any signs of pain at the moment. For a prognosis we'd need a diagnosis which is difficult without back ground information. I'll wait and see what the vet says.

Today Otto's eye is open. It varies from day to day. He got up for his fresh food which he takes to his and re appears a couple of hours later.

I think he was looking for more 😋

He looks very well & his eye does look fine when it’s open.

Last night it was shut but opened eventually. I had a look at photos when i first got him and realized that it didn't look 100% right then. I didn't notice rightaway though because it isn't always obvious.

Otto loves his fresh food. That's one thing he gets up for.

He's lovely :-) He probably closes it when it bothers him, to rest it, but if it's open it's maybe stopped bothering him for a bit. Just a guess.

Otto tonight.

Hams likes broccoli too. He'll eat the top to start and go back for the stem later 🙂

I don't show the photos where his eye doesn't look normal but i'm glad i took some to show to the vet.
