I did not think of that but I will try that.Orko is so funny dancing in his hide.
You can sit with him in the new playpen and let him out of his taxi onto your lap.

Thank you Elusive. He was not stressed at all and he thought it was a great game! He’s getting really cheeky!
I can imagine how scary that was for you, just imagining them getting lost or stuck somewhere is pretty frightening, the main thing though is that he did seem to be enjoying it rather than getting stressed out so, deep breath everything is ok!
I have a playpen like that although I haven’t used it for a while but my Chinese would try to squeeze underneath & I guess it would be pretty easy for a tiny robo.
Hope you can find a way to block the gap so you can still use it for him.
I’ve got another playpen I made just by cutting a large piece of rigid plastic (can’t remember exactly what now) into four pieces, a hole at each corner then joined with cable ties & it sits flush to the floor as well as folding flat when not in use so maybe something like that would work.
The whole thing has a gap of 0.5cm. I did not think he could squeeze himself through that. Silly me! It is funny though. The way he kept doing it like a game and then clearly avoiding me trying to get him back into his cage.Oh goodness that must have been really scary for you! I had to laugh though because he is so cheeky. But a total pain if he can get through gaps. Is it those ones on the side? I remember seeing Newt's head sticking out from under the door once as he'd tried to get under it and couldn't get any further. He just looked at me and pulled himself back out again. It sounds really frustrating as to block those gaps will probably mean it won't be easy to put up and down each time. I was imagining draft proofing plastic strips or something - which would be ok if it was a permanent fixture but defeats the object of being able to take it down again easily.
I was trying to work out how he got back in the playpen again if he got out through a gap. The same way?
The gap is along the whole thing. It is secured by some kind of connecters and this makes a gap. I said 0.5cm not 0.5mm! He is not that tiny.He shouldn't be able to get through 0.5mm - that's less than mouse bar spacing! Maybe the edges are rubbery and squish to one side. So where is the gap? On the side? The base or the corners?
I am thinking of trying to see if I can cover the gap with cardboard which he will be unable to move. If not, then the hunt is back on for another one. No other one is as big as this and this is what he needs to keep him entertained. I looked at toddler playpens but I do not think mesh is a good idea with hamsters.Sorry I meant 0.5cmYes it must be flexible for him to get through. Are you going to keep it or change it for a different one?
