I know I’ve said it before but he’s so adorable. He‘s always on the move, nibbling at food, stopping for a sniff or exploring his enclosure. So content in his hamstering world :)

Aww thank you. Say it as much as you like as Iove it when anybody finds Orko cute or intetesting. He really is always on the move. I have never seen him still for more then a few seconds!

Orko did a fantastic jump last night. He managed to jump from his spray holder into his aspen dig box! I have not seen him do this before. Afterwards he is on his wheel and you can see he will run in one direction then switch to the other direction.

Wow that was a fantastic jump! He is definitely getting braver and more confident isn't he?!

Yes, that's what i meant. He must be using his multichamber house quite a bit then or he made it into a huge grain store.
He has always used his MCH a lot. His actual hoard is not underneath there. It is opposite. I think he just likes to pop out there as he can access his food and water.

Orko must be building a huge winter hoard despite the temperature not changing here. All his flax seed sprays have been eaten or stored. He has really developed an appetite. He is so different to the little baby who arrived and was not interested in food at all. Every other day he gets a big spoon of seeds scattered and he enjoys searching for them. Here he is looking for seeds.

I wonder of Robos do this later than Syrians. Pip has been very keen on pouching his food recently - pestering a bit when I put it out. But Raffy, like most Syrians I’ve had, started building draught excluding bedding about the end of August when the nights started drawing in.

That is interesting. Also, they must know winter is coming despite it still being warm. Very clever.

Orko is an 8 month old robo whom I adopted from the adoption centre at a pet shop when he was 4 months old. His previous family had to surrender him as they were moving overseas. Orko is my first hamster so I am still learning. He is a very sweet and happy boy and so shy. I have 2 cameras in his cage to ensure I monitor all that he gets up to. Every morning I watch his night time antics so I have my very own nature documentary.

Last night I spotted him doing something new. He loves to climb his hides and here he is managing to get between two.

I have an embarassing thing to tell you. Orko has not been eating tofu! I thought all soya was simply tofu but it is not. My vegan friend told me that I have textured vegetable protein and although it is 100% soya, this is not tofu. I am unsure if this is healthy so I am not feeding it any more.

How ironic its the one food he loves the most. Now I know it is not possible to buy dried tofu I fear he will hoard it and it will go mouldy so no point in me buying any.

Just thought I would explain as I would feel dishonest not to. Luckily I spoke to my friend today. Lol.

Ha ha. Don't worry. I know nothing about Tofu - I am sure it's very similar whatever it is! I thought Tofu was bean curd? And soya is a bean. According to the BBC, Tofu is derived from soya by curdling fresh soya milk.

Thank you. I was worried about being judged and people upset with me for feeding something unsuitable. My partner did some research and said not to feed it but for me to stop worrying as it will not have caused any harm. He said its like a parent finding out their child had secretly been eating cake.

If you're not sure about it I am sure there is something else he would enjoy equally. They love most fresh food. Mine occasionally get a tiny piece of hard cheddar cheese (but not very often). Or a bit of scrambled egg on a teaspoon. I've never known a hamster pouch scrambled egg - they just sort of nibble, lick it up. I take the teaspoon away after that rather than leave it in the cage.

Surely it said Tofu on the packet or you wouldn't think it was Tofu?!

I found it buy searching for tofu on Amazon. It said 100% organic soya chunks on the packet and I assumed it was the same.
