We were out walking for a little longer than usual and so my robins were waiting impatiently for their snack.

As promised for Beryl - and as consolation for the lost raspberry plant - I managed to get one on the door handle!

The swan family is such a lovely sight & your robin waiting for it’s snack is so sweet too, I’m sure it was worth the wait.

The swan family is a delight to see. Other birds on the river or other water areas here have not been so successful with young ones so far. Perhaps the cold spring didn’t help. Still it makes up for the saddest winter sights I have ever seen. Dead birds, swans, geese and more just floating with the tide. Bird flu was to blame. Nature is trying to fight back now.

Clematis tangutica coming into flower now.
I grew this from seed many years ago & it now covers a good stretch of fence & climbs to the top of the rowan tree I planted about 22 years ago so it’s big.
Great plant, needs no attention at all except for a bit of praise now & then & the bees love it too.

Bird flu was terrible last year, let’s hope nature can fight back & there will more birds thriving this year.

Beryl, I hope you spotted the robin photo for you on the previous page here!

That's a beautiful Clematis Elusive :) Also lovely to see the Swans and Robin on the previous page. I had no idea bird flu had had such a big effect that you would see dead ones floating in the river.

Sadly it was the worst year ever for bird flu last year, the estimate was getting on for 4 million birds.

It was devastating. We had signs up warning people of bird flu and telling them not to pick up a dead bird but gave a number to report it.
Birds could literally drop out of the sky and if it fell into a farmyard with chickens or turkeys free ranging, the farmer’s entire stock was destroyed.

I'm not sure how I missed all that - I only vaguely heard about it. I do remember hearing there was a shortage of turkeys (but then a report said apparently there wasn't).

Wow, so many beautiful flowers. Love the big red rose and the yellow, one of my favourite colours. Not sure I've ever seen a yellow clematis, it's stunning and wow to the big palms, they are fantastic.

Hope you can start getting around easier very soon Maz.

I grabbed my phone for this pic today. A busy bee doing its thing 🐝

That’s a super photo Zara, a better view of the bee than I managed. So much pollen to collect now.

That's an unusual variety it's nice to grow something different

The photo of the robin sitting on the door handle waiting for dinner is incredible!

I've only just caught up and so glad i did.

This is my jungle like front garden!
Yellow flag iris amongst the ferns with a huge Continus bush in the background.
