I give it on a teaspoon - I make it fairly runny and they just eat it off the teaspoon. Usually they've had enough about half way through. You can get instant porridge as well which is easier! You just poor boiling water on that, mix it a bit thick, then add some cold water to cool it down and thin it out.

If using normal porridge oats you can make it in a mug in the microwave. So a teaspoonful of oats, a bit of water and microwave for about 10 seconds and then another 10 seconds until it looks a bit right.

You need to let it cool down though or it'll be too hot. Also it gets thicker as it cools down so I leave it fairly runny and then it's about right when it's cooled down :)

Normal rolled oats are fine, I just make it in the normal way with water, same consistency as usual too & they like it like that.

I assume this is not normal :(

I’m really sorry Robbie but that does look very much like he is about to pass away, it may be his heart failing or something else age related but if he continues like this you would need to get him to a vet, he may just pass away naturally soon but he may be suffering so a vet appointment if possible would be best.

I am not sure if getting him to a vet would be worth it it might just stress him out a lot :( I feel bad there's nothing I can do to help him

I know it’s a difficult decision sometimes, I’ve been there myself, it really depends how long it goes on, he will probably be beyond getting too stressed now, as I said he may just pass away naturally but sometimes it can drag on for them in which case it is better to help them on their way.

Do You think it would be the kindest thing to do to have him put to sleep?

If he doesn’t pass away very soon then yes, it wold be kinder.
It’s hard to kno whow much they are suffering at this point.

Put plenty of substate in a carrier if you have one, if you don’t have one a box would probably be ok at this stage, gently lift him in & put some of the substrate he’s lying on that has his scent on, that should help him feel more secure if he’s still concsious.
There’s not much more you can do really.
I am sorry, I know how hard this is for you.

Yes, good point Frida, just talking gently so he knows you’re there will help to comfort him.

Thank you guys I am not sure what to do still he just got up and started walking around and eating the porridge that I gave him

It can be up & down at this stage of life, if he’s eating now then just keep an eye on him for a while, if he was really suffering or in pain then I don’t think he would get up to eat.
It is probably his heart getting weak so keep a close eye & see how he goes for a while.

I would still get some advice from a vet by a telephone call so you don't need to move Cookie unnecessary.

Just to add you might be able to do a video call with a vet so they can see Cookie or maybe email / message the video of Cookie.
