Aw, precious boy wanted the porridge. I notice one of his eyes is a bit squinted. Is this a new thing for Cookie?

Aww bless him, he hasn’t given up yet.
I’ve had similar things with very old hamsters, they look as though they’re at the end stage & then rebound a bit, as long as he’s showing some interest in food like that then I think he’ll be ok for a while, you do have to be prepared for things to change quickly though.

Thank you guys my local vet is currently shut due to it being the weekend and they don't have an email I can email the videos too

I will just keep a close eye on him I hope I have not gave him to much porridge I think some got in his den and he has some in his food bowl as well

I think that is a good idea. Just keep an eye on him. Cookie is a wonderful age and I know old age can slow hamsters down. You take such good care of Cookie.

Most vets have an emergency number for out of normal hours although the number may be for another vet.
Hopefully you won’t need it today.

I wouldn’t worry about the amount of porridge, that won’t matter, if you can maybe have a check to see if he’s got a wet patch he might lie in if it got in his den.

Okay thank you guys I will keep update you when I know anymore I will just leave him alone for now with his porridge

I will check on him later tonight thanks for all your help it means a lot

He was a bit like this last time with the breathing and then came round again. If he is eating and drinking and having some normal activity then it is just a case of keeping an eye on him.

Hope you’re doing ok. It’s a difficult time wondering what next. Is he actually waking around and using his wheel at all? You maybe won’t know till later tonight. It’s a bit early for a Syrian to get up.

Personally I’d see how he is tomorrow.

I am doing as okay as I can be it's definitely quite hard yeah I still have not heard anything from him yet but the night is still young yesterday he ran on his wheel for a bit and he somehow had turned this long piece of cardboard I use as a sorta mini roof upside down so yeah he is still somewhat active

Little update on the little fella I caught him sneaking about enjoying more of the porridge that I left for him outside of his den

It sounds like the other day really - when he's awake he's up and about and eating and doing things. He's soldiering on. But he clearly has some kind of breathing thing/panting as well - which could well be heart. It may be the fast breathing is worse at the moment due to the hot weather as well. I think he will give you a sign if he's suffering.

What kind of signs do you think I should look out for? And yeah it's crossed my kind that whatever is going on might be worse cus of the heat I mean he has pushed most of his bedding all to one side

Also to add I can't say I've heard him drinking or seen him drinking the past two days but that's something I can easily of just missed

It's difficult to say really, but I think you'd know if he wasn't happy or in pain. As I mentioned before, ears down all the time is a sign of that, but hamsters are very good at hiding pain, being prey animals.
