Apologies this thread will be a bit ‘as & when’! Have daughter here from Aus.
But those that are interested will get full story with pics 🤣👍

No need to apologise - there's no rush :) Sounds fantastic having your daughter there from Aus.

As & when is fine, I like installments!
Enjoy your time with your daughter.

A few more pics these are dated 2nd April so they would have been a day old! 🥰

My partner always says he really wants chickens. If we had a garden we would love to rescue some. 😊

When Chicken pops her clogs I may get a few rescues. I can’t introduce new chickens to her at her age cos they would most likely bully her. They can be a bit cruel sometimes 😳

I can understand that. Bonding animals can be very difficult.

They are beautiful. And my ignorance shows here as I always thought chicks were yellow - or is that ducklings? :ROFLMAO:

Funny you say that. I had the same thought but was wondering what breed these little cuties are.

So hybrid chicks are normally yellow.

These are pure-breed chicks - 2 Barnevelders, 2 Wellsummers & a Cream Legbar 😁

You could have made this up and i wouldn't know any different, lol.
Just shows there's more to chickens than omelettes.
Seriously though, this is fascinating stuff and they do look different from the hens my granny used to have in her yard.
Feel free to elaborate as and when you have time.

I'm aware there are quite a few breeds of chickens but not familiar with them. Bantams is the only one I can remember.

So Bantams are just smaller versions of the bigger breeds (mostly), there are some Bantams that don’t have the equivalent larger counterparts (not sure if thats even a word!🤣).

So Pekin Bantams and Silkies, for example, do not have the equivalent ‘full sized’ Chicken.

I had 3 Pekin Bantams. Some years ago, before I hatched the ‘famous five’.

Will try and find some pics. They are very cute x

The one on the right was called ‘Perle’. She was a lavender Pekin Bantam. She loved cuddles they can get very tame and have little feathery feet 🥰.

I had to zoom in because I wasn't sure about the one in the middle 🤣
