We do have a family to look after….currently Dog, Cat, Chicken, Hamster.

At one point I had 11 Chickens!

We would love more pets, but I feel we are sometimes just not home enough to be there for them. My mum lived on a farm as a child, she has some great stories, they are fun pets to have.

Alfie B is incredibly handsome! I'm sure he's having a great life. We used to get chickens and a cockerel wandering around outside the house a lot - mainly obsessed with the pile of manure near the sheep house for some reason . They belong to the neighbouring farm so we used to get given eggs (or find rotten ones behind bushes).

So once Alfie had departed I ended up with 4 lovely girls. I don’t really have a good pic with them all in the one shot…



2 Wellsummers - on left - Alice and Pippin (these were the 2 that I got mixed up. When they were little their combs went different ways. Then they grew and looked identical! One of these is my Chicken who is still with me today

Another Barnevelder like Alfie B. She was called Beattie.

And the chicken on the right was Lucy. A Cream Legbar. She used to lay greeny blue eggs

Once I had integrated the four new chooks with the existing ones (this took time!), I had 9 beautiful girls

Loved seeing all of this. And their tails up and fluffing out their feathers on the video. I think I spotted Lucy Legbar on the video. Who was the white one? Thank you for this thread! Really lovely.

Yep Lucy Legbar was there. And 2 Buff Sussex - Freya & Fleur (pale brown with black neck feathers).

Also Edith a massive black chicken don’t really know what breed she was! I think a cross

The tiny one looks white but she was actually a Lavendar Pekin Bantam called Perle x
