The silly season

Well, your OH had his Christmas early then.

We were given a very boozy little Christmas cake from my OH's coffee club. We've almost eaten it. Can't see the point in eating everything at once just because it is Christmas.

Maybe your OH was health conscious and tought it wiser to spread out the calories.

When my grandkids were little, i bought and presented them their Christmas presents a month early to avoid overload and underappreciation on the day.

Oh we do start eating things early lol! But I have two Christmases to do. One on the day and one next week when we're all here. So some things were put away for next week. It gets complicated. OH didn't realise that so he ate the chocolates! Anyway I've bought some more. They might get here - if not - never mind.

I shall have to hide some!

My hiding places usually get found. Thinks 🤔 .

Ha ha! I don't think I can hide chocolate in Pip's cage though. I am wondering about a bucket in the bathroom (which has another bucket on top).

That is a good idea! Or even your wardrobe.

My wardrobe is a good idea - OH never goes in there - but I wouldn't put him past it to smell the chocolate and have a rummage in there. Also don't want to attract mice into my wardrobe! We have had mice in the bedroom the odd time!

I have found a cupboard he never goes in - now I need to make a note of it so I don't forget where they are! Lol. Anyway they probably won't get here till after Christmas now when they can be eaten! No doubt nobody will want chocolate any more. But I do get organisational anxiety about not running out of things!

You are going to so much trouble to make everything special. I am sure the chocolate will be enjoyed even if it turns up late.😀

So my list left is:

Collect prescription
Cooking
Washing
Watch for parcels (more chocolate might be arriving)
Retrieve wet parcels from the rain
Have a bath
Look out for the turkey arriving
Cooking
Put everything back in the big cupboard that all fell out when I was trying to find something
Have a lie in on Christmas day morning

Its a great idea to make a list. I hope you can tick these items off.

Safety measures put in place to avoid accidental poisoning of OH's 90 year old dad

Turkey - ready made to cook in a tin foil tray already stuffed
- read cooking times with glasses on

Gammon - as above

Gravy - ready made to be microwaved from frozen
- no need to worry about it disappearing down the plughole

Roast potatoes and parsnips - cook from frozen
- no need to worry about cremated potatoes and parsnips

Sprouts and carrots - cook fresh in the steamer
- remember to go to the farm shop and superglue steamer handle

Red cabbage - microwave from frozen
- no need to worry about dishing up something pink

Yorkshire puddings - cook from frozen
- remember to chuck them in the oven last thing

All this effort because my OH's dad didn't fancy a take away curry and my OH will be floating above Austria.

I wished i was a hamster.

Ha ha. It's the little things isn't it - like glueing the steamer handle - that create the deadline!

My list was a bit tongue in cheek :)

It all sounds very tasty Beryl. I didn't know you could get frozen gravy - now that sounds handy.

I didn't know about the frozen gravy either until i spotted it at Iceland i think.

I'm no cook and that's the best chance i've got to produce something edible.

I've superglued the steamer handle and must go to the farm shop tomorrow, after my omelette roll. I will not go to a petshop. I will not go to a petshop...........

Hope you all had a pleasant day without any disasters.

I woke to the sound of Scottie running in his wheel so knew that it was far too early to get up.
I woke again a while later to the sound of Scottie chucking things about to wake me up. You succeeded Scottie. Gave him his treats and he went off to bed.

My day had started and i made porridge for Clive and Jack.
Wrote a list of things i had to cook and wrote down the cooking times as well. Very organised for me.

Got myself sorted and decided to put the meat in the oven.
Then i needed coffee but didn't want one from my pod coffee machine. Greggs was shut so i missed out on my omelette roll.
Went out in the search for coffee and was in luck because the petrol station was open. Wild Bean latte was fine and drunk it in the car while pondering on the meaning of Christmas.

Back home and chucked sprouts in the steamer and carrots. Then more oven stuff and microwave foods as well. Got the Aunt Beryl's yorkshire puds in last thing and packed everything up to go into my two baskets.

Drove to my OH's dad and felt very nervous about the gravy spilling. I have a very poor gravy track record.
Meals on wheels arrived and everything was edible. All done and dusted by 14.00.

Can't wait for my next omelette roll. Greggs is open tomorrow and life will be back to normal.

How was your Christmas dinner?

Glad all went well Beryl. Turkey was very iffy so we had burgers with all the Christmas veg :) In fact had the whole Christmas dinner - except for the intended meat. Had that inspiration after watching Masterchef the other night where someone made a Christmas burger! It was disappointing temporarily but enjoyed our dinner anyway.

Watched the ballet on TV then had a sleep!
