I did wonder that. So I've been outside most of today, in the shade - had a job to do. Fine in the shade despite the heat. Enough air today. Came inside and went to the bedroom tonight and it's just as bad! Despite the curtains drawn, fresh air through the window and the air purifier on all day. So I think I'll have to sleep downstairs again which is such an upheaval. No good being in hospital in this weather - hotter in most hospitals than anywhere else![]()
Poor MazSo humidity not quite as bad as last night - instead the midges are back! So being bitten to death has been keeping me awake. So I now have the air purifier going and the fly zapper thing. Which seems to be working - it is zapping ever few seconds - which is now keeping me awake!
Thank you. I had to switch the zapper off before going to sleep! It did work quite well but quite noisy and the smell of fried midges was a bit strange.Lavender and mint plants help against midgets sometimes, last year we had an invasion of then and I planted a few of these herbs and placed them in the kitchen and bedroom on the window sill. When the scent started spreading in the room I had less midgets.
I agree with you, I always loved summer. But the last years it has been challenging with heatwaves and humidity. Where as I suffer more with the humidity than the heat. I know how those midgets stink when they burnThank you. I had to switch the zapper off before going to sleep! It did work quite well but quite noisy and the smell of fried midges was a bit strange.
I like summer actually! I would like it to be as long as possible! Winter is too long where we are. But this weather has been unusual. I thought the next heat wave wasn't until mid July and we're not there yet!
These blinds work so well I am amazedMy blinds for outside arrived and my Russian neighbour came straight to help me put them upthey came just in time as it’s getting hot, but extremely windy and I can’t put the parasols up.
They are really nice and already keeping the scorching sun off.

I do think the weather has been extrem this year. I am glad it’s cooling down. I felt so sorry to hear how you were sufferingThank youIt's supposed to get cooler over the week-end. The main problem with the bedroom we think, is that next to it is a walk in loft room over a single storey extension. The new part/extension is very insulated - the roof keeps the heat in and it radiates to the bedroom! Hence it ends up being the hottest room in the house. However we've lived here nearly 10 years and never had this issue before! So it must be unusually hot and humid.
Your blinds are lovelyThese blinds work so well I am amazedI didn’t have high hopes but wanted to try anything to keep Nibbles cool. I must say, they are fantastic! It’s very hot yesterday and today and I have managed to keep the temperature at 22 degrees
Although I have two big parasols up the sun still hits the windows. This is where the blinds provide protection

I bought a single sofa bed so that I could sleep downstairs where it’s a bit coolerI did wonder that. So I've been outside most of today, in the shade - had a job to do. That’s a good idea thoughI bought a single sofa bed so that I could sleep downstairs where it’s a bit coolerStill a bit of extra faff tho!
I used to have one of those as a guest bed, i loved itHave a blow up bed here. You plug it into an electric socket and it blows itself up (and you get the air out the same way) - it's a full height bed as well. It's quite comfortable - unless it gets a puncture and goes down in the night! That happened to the first one but I think someone jumped on it .........
They are aren't theyI used to have one of those as a guest bed, i loved itit was unbelievable comfy.
