We all make mistakes Rainbow. Please don't be hard on yourself. You've sorted it now and Sprite is fine. 💕

Just shows what a good investment the camera has been and your regular watching of footage has proved hugely beneficial. Some tweaking of the set up and all is well in SpriteLand. That is what matters.

Thank you. :)

I could give you a list of all the hamsters who have given me a fright by climbing which includes just about everyone.

Russian dwarfs are quite different from Robos and you seem to have a lively, adventurous and interactive one.

Sprite is fine and you got over your first fright which is what matters.

They all try to get to the top if they can! I think a hamster's raison d'etre is to see if they can get out at night. Sounds like he is definitely ready for out of cage time :) All except robos maybe. Although Robos can climb bars sometimes. Some of them just scale the wheel to get to the top even if you don't have hides on top of houses. I doubt he could do that though as the wheel would spin round.

He is letting you know where to put things :) He sounds like a real character.

Sprite does not like his playpen and will just stay a few minutes. I tried with him again today. He is very easy to handle and I can scoop him up and hold him. 😍

Sprite may be still too busy exploring his lovely big home. He'll let you know when/if he wants more. Great that he's easy to handle. I'd keep that up. Some dwarfs like to have sofa time with their humans.
Eddie used to be like that until he discovered the dig box and big sand pit in the free roaming area. Now it's more like Beryl the taxi.

They all like different things so you have to experiment a bit.
Does he try climbing on you if you sit in with him? They often like that.
As Beryl said some do like time on the sofa rather than an enclosed playpen but keep trying, maybe with different things in there to see what he enjoys.

He comes to me when in the playpen for treats. I get the impression he had a lot of treats previously as he comes to me everyday hoping for treats. I sit him on my lap and give him something but then he is looking for more.

I have put a lot of things in the playpen as it was a bit empty before and I thought that may encourage him a bit but he shows little interest in exploring it. It could be due to him still getting used to his new home.

Sprite may like a dig box with food hidden in the playpen or a maze made from cardboard boxes and cardboard tubes. Or make one of those lovelý puzzles you made for Orko and put them in the playpen.

Great ideas. I will make him some. 🙂

I watched the camera footage from last night and to my horror I saw Sprite managed to climb up his log hide that is on his MCH and reach the lid. He held on to the lid and then jumped down. Later on he tried this again but monkey barred a little bit before falling back down. I feel terrible. I had no idea he could climb that hide and reach the lid. I have swapped it for something else.

He appears well as I have spent time with him this morning and he is active, eating and drinking. Poor Sprite. What a stupid place to put the hide. I am used to Orko who was too small to do such things.
They never cease to throw a curved ball glad he's fine and you are onto that little trick now

He’s got the begging look off to a tee!
That face & those little paws are just irresistible.
