It does look nice, I’m sure she’ll like the carrot house & the ceramic tube will probably be easier for her to walk through, she does have lots of enrichment still & with her MCH the same she should be happy & settle in easily I would think.

Yeah, the ceramic tube should be easier for her and she'd always clog the wicker one full of bedding and never dig it back out again!

A little video of her exploring after she'd found her MCH and calmed down a little. Still some circling behaviour but once she gets used to the layout I think she'll be just fine. I decided to move her over in the morning because she isn't too bad about being woken up and this way she gets to explore for a little while and then sleep which will help her mentally process all the changes before she wakes up tonight.

Considering she’s just had a complete cage changed even with familiar things she doesn’t look too bothered by it there & her movement & behaviour look about the same to me.

Her balance looked really good when she was eating her millet.
Yeah, I thought that too :) The severity of her issues does seem to come and go. Monday and tuesday she was seeming more wobbly and lethargic and then yesterday she was getting about pretty well. It's important that she can still get around her enclosure on her bad days but still have enough space and enrichment to keep her happy on her better days and hopefully her new layout should satisfy both.

That's a fabulous retirement home! I really like this cage for that purpose. Love the way you've set it up. I think that Snowy will be happy in there.

Thank you :)

I am pretty pleased with the layout, feel like I can leave her to settle with minimal interference for a while rather than needing to tinker with it.

I am glad people here helped me decide on this one over the Bano. Its a much better choice with its large flat platform, extra height and less pan taper.

It's a lovely set up - lots for her to do in there. She seems to be enjoying exploring and checking everything out. She did start circling quite a bit at one point, yes. I think that is just change - finding familiar things in different places. But I am sure she will settle in. I tend to find they can have a set back after the first day, after the excitement of exploring, and get a bit skitty and nervy, and it can still take the full two week settling in period before they're more at home.

I really like that cage! I wish they did a 100cm one.

Agreed. Even an 80x50 one would be great and would probably sell super well due to the lack of good cages that just meet the often promoted 600 square inch recommended minimum for dwarfs. (Nothing against the Hamster Heaven but barless cages are better for many hamsters).

Snowy is still doing fine. I don't see a lot of her but she often pops out briefly at some point in the day to find some food. With all the changes going on I haven't been able to give her any floor time since she moved but sometimes when she's out and I'm near the cage she looks up at me repeatedly so I give her a brief hold which she seems chill about.

I had a funny moment a couple of days ago. I took her near the rat cage and she was happily sniffing in their direction wondering what they were about. Put her back in her enclosure and she crawled straight back onto my hand so brought her over to the rats for another sniff at a safe distance from the bars. The rats were also very curious! Put her back again and she crawled straight on my hand again. Of course they're never going to get to meet but it's funny how she is so interested in them.

A little video of her this morning:

She’s so lovely 😍 She looks good there & seems to be doing really well.
Her fascination with the rats made me laugh!

Same here. She must have been wondering what the rats were all about.

Snowy has only been burrowing under her wheel lately, which isn't great as the bedding is too shallow there to support a burrow and she keeps stopping the wheel spinning. The front entrance to her MCH is near there and I wish she'd decide to burrow towards the right rather than left as then she'd be burrowing under her carrot house which would be way better. Today I decided to start a tunnel under her shelf in the hope that she might try burrowing somewhere different. Her MCH also has an entrance at the back, under the shelf, but pretty sure she isn't using it at all. Captured a little video of her investigating the new tunnel :)

Under the wheel is so often a favourite place for some reason I’ve never quite fathomed! At least she had a good look at the new tunnel so maybe she’ll get the idea.

Snowy looks really well. I wonder if a little hoard in the tunnel might encourage her in.

Hopefully she will. Her MCH has quite small chambers so I am wondering if it has gotten clogged with bedding at the back in a way that makes it hard to dig through. Maybe if she can dig to it from the other direction she can fix the problem by herself.

I could of course remove the shelf and fix it myself but that would be more stressful for her.

She is doing a lot better. She pops out briefly three or four times most days now.

I have had to alter the floor time area and I put her there for the first time a couple of days ago and she coped pretty well. She did a bit of spinning but just seemed a little confused rather than stressed. I think she'll adjust to it pretty quick and enjoy having short floor time sessions again.

This is a great idea, thanks. I've just put some sesame seeds and linseeds at the far end of the tunnel. I'll keep putting a bit of her seed mix in there from tomorrow in the hope she decides having a tunnel there is a good thing!
