Show us your cages 2023 onwards

So sorry to hear you lost Louet x The cage looks amazing!
Thank you. Things have moved on a bit since I did the original design. A cage that big for dwarf hamsters 10yr ago was unusual, now it seems standard, which is lovely to see. And I’m discovering the wonderful world of ‘sprays’.

It sounds like you're ready for another furry friend :-) And yes we do miss them a lot.

Has anyone got a cage set up to post? :-) This thread hasn't been updated for a while.

Here is Oaky's current set-up. I think she's pretty happy with it. She is so much more active than our last hamster, so she makes regular use of her dig boxes and tunnels underneath all the hideouts in multiple ways. She really excavated underneath the platform that the wheel is on so it's basically another chamber for her. Every once in a while I make minor changes to the dig boxes, hides or sprays, but I keep the major parts of the setup the same.

So great to see all these wonderful setups from everyone! Here is Ori's setup (she is a syrian). We are brand new to this hammy universe, my daughter wanted one for her 7th birthday. We have this setup in our living room. Ori has been with us since July 12, so about 2 weeks. I've seen her twice for very super short intervals in the late evening, like about 2-3 minutes, before she retreats under the steps to her nest. We thought we'd see her a bit more by now, but the complicating factor is that we have a cat (13 years old). How big of an impact is this? Do I need to just wait longer and be patient or consider moving the cage to my daughter's room and keep the door closed so that the hamster doesn't have concern over the cat?
Also, any tips on the setup would be most welcome.IMG_6589.webpIMG_6590.webp

That looks amazing :-) Ori has a wonderful set up. If you haven't had her long, she might just be adjusting to the new environment. They often get more confident in the enclosure after the first couple of weeks. She may be aware of your cat if she can smell the cat. Does the cat go near the enclosure much? I don't think I've seen that enclosure before - did you make it yourselves? :-)

Thanks ☺️. We've only had Ori for 2 weeks. The cat doesn't go anywhere near it except when Ori was awake, the cat was alert and watching. I have no idea what happens overnight.
As far as the enclosure goes, it is the Prolee cage from Amazon, the 48x20x20 size. Thanks again for the help! We'll wait it out a bit more to see.

it looks amazing, with plenty of space, but I wonder if the front maybe feels a bit exposed for Ori. Possibly a cork or grass tube at the front would give a bit of cover? Love the sprays!
