Show us your cages 2023 onwards

Hello :-) Is Ron a Syrian or a dwarf hamster? If he's a Syrian, then the wheel is too small. If he's a dwarf hamster, it's slightly on the small side but would do for a while :-) He has a lovely cage :-) He might like it if you could add some more bedding at one end - I know it's tricky as it could fall out of the bars, but some people put grass mats or cardboard inside the bars at one end to prevent that :-)

Congratulations on getting your hammy, Ron ❤ Hamsters aren't great climbers, being happiest burrowing and running through vegetation, having lost their tails and climbing claws due to these preferences. They fall quite heavily so putting out a soft landing can be good. They usually look for a really dark place to make a nest as far from the entrance as possible. Having deep bedding to burrow into makes them feel at ease. The multi chamber houses made by Happy Henry's Homes are great as they have a removable roof so you can peek in without uprooting the whole house. You can also make a nice dark house by putting a floorless shoebox into the cage and using the lid as a roof. A bendy bridge over the door will keep the inside nice and dark 🏡🐾😴. Your set up is great with lots of enrichment and places for Ron to use as cover as he moves about which should encourage him to explore ❤
