School holidays

It's so very clever and creative :-) And they are really lovely.

After Lovelyness mentioning a holiday in Dorset, and the railway carriage looks such a lovely place to stay,
I went and had a look at the menu online at The Hive Beach cafe I mentioned. I also read it out to my H. Both of us were very disappointed to read how expensive it has become. Maybe it’s become very popular and gone up market as well as food and other prices rising recently. It used to be such fun and unpretentious.
Such is life I suppose

It's a shame when these things happen isn't it? I used to have lots of favourite haunts in Whitby which was still quite old fashioned and had some great little junk shops and greasy spoon cafe's. Until the property boom in the early 2000's. No more cheap little junk shops and greasy spoon locals cafe's - they're all cappucino bars and fancy! Which is nice but you can get that anywhere.

My family come from Whitby, so I know it well :) It’s one of my favourite places. I’ve had lots of lovely holidays there :)

I know where you mean…we did go down as far as Burton Bradstock on our first visit to Dorset. We didn’t even attempt going to the Hive tho as the queue was really long. We also had our dog with us…he wasn’t great with crowded places with other dogs around, so we stuck with picnics.

Just had a look at The Hive…wow! It is expensive! We went to Sidmouth last summer, and got fresh fish finger sandwiches from the fish market which we ate on the seafront…it was fresh fish goujons, freshly caught and freshly cooked for £3.99, if I remember rightly…that price also included a bag of crisps, chocolate and a drink!!! They were delicious!!

Loveliness - The train house looks beautiful. I love places like this, have a wonderful time.

Elusive - wow, the needlefelt mice are incredible, so life like. Very clever 😀

We have some special birthdays taking place this year. My daughter has always loved the idea of Paris so we've just had a short 2 night stay there. It was beautiful, pretty much how I remember it from 20 years ago but with all the added security measures we've all become used to in our cities. I've attached a few photos. ☺️

Ooh lovely! I'd love to go to Paris again :) Gorgeous photos too - I almost feel I'm there. I remember finding it very scary going up in the lift in the Eiffel tower as it was a bit like being in mid air.

It was lovely to be back; we went up the Eiffel Tower. One minute it was lovely and sunny, the next a large rain cloud moved towards us, covered the tower and it poured with rain before moving off. Kids thought it was great!
