No worries - when it's a hamster's personal thread, it tends to be mainly the hamster owner to post about their hamsterOops, my bad...![]()

Thank you.No worries - when it's a hamster's personal thread, it tends to be mainly the hamster owner to post about their hamsterAs opposed to a general thread.
I would say about a week, since we last spoke about Robin and you suggested it. So ,so far,no improvement ,it's taken five weeks to go from having fur to this baldness.Happy Birthday Robin! How long has she been having the linseeds? It can take a couple of weeks. No sign of any new fur growing at all?
Thanks a lot,Robin has had the same treatment as Socks, as the vet said we have to start somewhere. But he didn't think it would work due to the pattern of fur loss; and it hasn't . He also didn't think it was anything with her diet as she gets a good muesli mix,lab blocks and fresh veg, plus the right balance of protein. The only thing I am worried about now is her having Cushing's like my previous hammy Penny. But even the vet says it's usually rare in younger ones, and I would be very unlucky to have two on the go with it. I don't know what he would do if he finds it is,I know there are treatments if vets are willing to experiment ,and I don't know if he will.Happy birthday sweet Robin ⤠Socks had to see the vet over fur thinning. It was going from his back and even from around his eyes. He had ivermectine, yukky stuff, and it has grown back, but I don't know if it was from the ivermectine or from improvements I made to his diet, or if he was moulting. I think Robin gets a really good diet, so I doubt if it is nutrition related. I hope the vet appointment goes well. It is a worry when things go wrong and the cause is not clear.
Thankyou,it literally is just a wait and see for sure.Maybe it's just a bit of time to see if it grows back, if it's a moult. The alternative is it could be hormonal. It's hard for any treatment to be established without knowing a cause, so if she seems happy and healthy maybe it's a wait and see approach. Unless they suggest scans to see if there;s anything obvious internally.

She has a routine that when she goes back to her cage she comes and stands on the side to ask me for peanuts . It usually involves a little shoulder rub against the bars, and standing on her back legs doing a little dance with her front paws. If I take too long to pick the peanuts out of their container ,she leans right low to the shelf as if to say ,"look how cute I am"and then pops right back up again the second I come near with the peanut lolHope we get to see a photo of that![]()
Thankyou so muchLots of loving and healing vibes to Robin.
I hope everything goes OK for lovely Robin and she is back home and comfortable quicklyA.quick update on my little darling. I found what I suspected to be a mamary tumour last night that definitely wasn't there two days ago( but you know their metabolism) . We obviously acted upon it and rushed her to the vet this afternoon. She hasn't lost weight and is her usual happy self and the vet is very confident that she is a good candidate for a lumpectomy. She goes in Monday morning ,please keep your fingers crossed for her.He now believes the fur loss is hormonal due to the female cancer.
Thankyou Mazdid it go.well for him?So sorry about the mammary lump and hope the surgery goes well xxx One of mine had a mammary lump in his neck and he was male.
