I have the Savic plaza 120,but have been thinking about upgrading it to either the Aura plexi or the bucastate 3.0

@Eric65 You could just keep the Plaza 120 and get the perspex panels to attach from Viking Laser That is what I did. Then you can have 8" of bedding and even deeper in some areas. In the wheel area it would need to be 8" or slightly under to fit the wheel in but I just had it slightly lower in front of the wheel. Linked below. I hope Yorkie doesn't mind me adding this here on Robin's thread (if you do I'll move it to Eric's thread!).

Hammy is settled in the cage and it's a really nice spacious cage. A cage change can be a big change but they do adjust over 2 to 3 weeks usually. I also prefer the ventilation from part bars part perspex.

For example for 19cm high perspex above the base, tailor made to fit the plaza 120 it costs £123. If you have the 14cm high perspex it costs £111.

It depends how fit you are! I found the plaza 120 with perspex easier for cleanouts than the Aura because the door is actually higher on the aura so further to reach down inside. Which is fine unless you have a bad shoulder like I do!

On the other hand with the perspex on the plaza 120, the door piece is only about 1.5" higher than the base. So what I did was buy an extra piece of perspex (he will make any size or shape you want) and slotted that inside the door - held in place behind the two side panels, so I could have it deeper at the front as well. What that did was mean you could still open the front door but the bedding was held in. But the door was slightly shorter above the perspex - which was fine for day to day use. When I did a clean out or had to add or remove large items, I just lowered the bedding at the front first and slid out the extra panel to have the full sized door again. An example on this plaza 100 below! You can see on the photo the extra piece of perspex across the door.

On the other hand, the Aura 120 can be bought for about £135 plus shipping from Scallywags pet store and you don't lose the height by having the 10" or so of bedding as the cage is 10cm taller and still holds the bedding.

@Maz ,I have crappy shoulders too,and struggle to use my left arm due to a disability I have had since my twenties . So my way around the Savic Aura Plexi was to put it on a stand that is waist height . I still suffer a bit on changes ,and the pain is awful ,but I find it easier to reach across and a little down into her burrows ,than to reach down and have her lower on a coffee table or something. I get your logic on all of this though.

That is a good point - mine was on a higher stand. I had to balance the height for reaching and the height for standing as I have knee problems too! So I tend to have cages at waist height and use the front door I couldn't manage the front door if it was lower as I can't kneel or bend my knees far. I guess if it's on a coffee table though, you could use the top door as well.

They are both great cages, but the Aura is better for deep bedding as well without having to buy separate perspex and having enough height for a Syrian.

Lol it seems we both need putting down . My joint issues are arthritis and my arm( despite being left handed) due to a bad accident I had ,so I can't win no matter what,lol But I am very thankful of the massive doors for sure

I adapt! Don't want putting down just yet But it's one reason I wont have them free roaming unless fully tame or would predictably walk into a tube, as I can't be getting on my hands and knees looking under things for a hamster! So Higgins is still in the playpen but seems happy enough.
