Raffy (Syrian Hamster)

He has boundless energy! Never known anything like it with a male syrian! I've only had one really active Syrian before and even he didn't want to come out every night.

Raffy was making that chirruping sound again the other night. Just a little bit. He was in his cage. He had been out for quite some time and gone back in his cage. I was standing in front of Pip's cage, calling Pip to see if he'd come out. Then heard this noise behind me. Then heard it again and turned round and Raffy was on his shelf at that end looking across.

So I'm not quite sure if it was - go to bed now because you're disturbing me and I've already been out of the cage. Or if it was a bit of attention seeking jealousy and annoyance that I was talking to Pip (who I couldn't even see!).

Last night he decided not to come out. He was up and about at 10.30pm so I thought good I can get him out earlier. He nearly came in the tube and then changed his mind. I suspect it was because the TV was still on.

So I waited till later but he didn't do his usual thing of showing me he wants to come out and just ran in his wheel.

Raffy sounds quite bossy! He could have been jealous you were talking to Pip as he could tell by the tone of your voice.

I think the chirping was probably objecting to you talking to Pip! They do funny things sometimes when they’re not the one getting all the attention.
He’s keeping you guessing with out of cage time too!

I suspect it was jealousy too as I've seen him glare in that direction before when I was talking to Pip. But yes it would be nice if a machine could translate hamster chirrups!

Yep, i also think it was attention seeking behaviour. He doesn't like to share.

Watch your toes when he's out.

Well he hasn't had a go at my toes :) He does kind of follow your feet a bit sometimes or sniff them (so I have to be very careful and usually sit still when he's out!). I think it's just Pip he's jealous of! How dare I talk to Pip like I talk to him!

I may have got him completely wrong though. Maybe he thought I was talking to him but saw I was pointing the wrong way so just was kind enough to let me know I was talking out of the back of my head ha ha.

Best bit was - not a single noise of Pip or sign of him. I was talking to a cage.

Raffy had a really good wash and brush up just before he came out last night. And then a really nice stretch at the end! After a meerkat. The video is about 2 minutes long but I love how he washes his back foot and then has such a nice stretch at the end!

Raffy was being really thorough before his big outing. Really cute to watch.

I wish I could stand on one leg and lick my other foot without falling over!

That was such a good wash Raffy. Orko would approve.

I love that cute stretch at the end.

Love this 10/10 for cleanliness Raffy and the super stretch at the end.

So cute doing his feet, I’ve never seen that before. 😃

Seems to be mainly his right foot - I didn't see him cleaning his left foot!

That’s the proper way to get ready for a Saturday night out!
That was lovely to watch & the stretch was the perfect finale.

Thank you! It was actually a Friday night out :ROFLMAO:
