I'll be picking up a new little Syrian boy at the week-end. Unwanted child's pet about 6 months old and in a small cage. I'm getting excited thinking of names! He'll be going into a Savic Plaza.

That's great news, looking forward to hearing more about him when he arrives.
So nice that you are rescuing another little hammy, he is very lucky to be coming your way. 🐹

Thank you :-) I was just thinking alls well that ends well. Molly has a lovely new home and the little Syrian boy is coming to a new home and a nicer cage.

Thanks Elusive :). Good point Socks Mum - Raffy doesn’t know. He will know something is happening when I started setting up the other cage in the room. I think he quite likes a bit of competition!

I am very happy for you and the hamster. He is going to have such a wonderful life with you.😊

I'm very excited for you and your new hamster. I can't wait to see some photos and videos. I'm sure Raffy will love some friendly rivalry 🐹🐹💕

Thank you Frida!

I’ve been setting the cage up this afternoon and early evening. It took hours! It is quite time consuming adding all the Perspex panels. And then screwing the wheel to the bars (negotiating the Perspex while doing it). But that was the fiddly bit done.

It’s nearly there- but only have two sprays at the moment so will need to get some more.

I’m having a rest now :). It was only a long time as I was taking it slowly. But each time I do wish it was a Bucatstate tank so no cage to put together and no Perspex to add - but still has a front door. I just can’t justify getting one when I have two plazas and the Perspex! This plaza isn’t as good as the one I just put in the loft. It has the odd bit of rust on some bars - but the Perspex covers that. And also I noticed two bars had snapped at the back next to a vertical join. Also covered by the Perspex! So really from now on I only have one plaza and spare parts as this one is on its last legs!

How lovely to be welcoming a new Syrian rescue, really look forward to hearing more about him and seeing a picture when he’s out and about exploring his new home. He may not realise it yet, but he’s going to be a very lucky hamster in a wonderful home 😊 Hopefully you’ve not got too far to go and pick him up.

Hope the new arrival settles in well, congratulations on getting a new little guy

Zara and ilguy - thanks :-). It is a bit of a trek - 1.5 to 2 hours drive - but it’s on nice roads through nice countryside.
