Mr Nibbles Diary

After four nights with almost none sleep, the constant worry over Nibbles and my mum (82 years old)
I have finally had enough and have ordered two AC units one for Nibbles and I and one for mum.
They will arrive on the 26th July so as it is supposed to get cooler for the next two weeks unhook they arrive on time. let’s face it, this won’t be the last heatwave.

Good, it's worth the peace of mind

I am patiently waiting for him to wake up. I didn’t want to dig him out as I know what would have really upset him. I am cooling frequently and finally can open doors and windows as it’s 29 degrees outside and inside but there is a slight breeze.
He will definitely stay until Sunday or Monday night down there as i can’t bring him up until the weather cools down. That’s the advice from the lovely vet.
She has actually rang me back to see how he is getting on, although her clinic is 400 miles away that is so kind. We had a nice chat

I don’t know he still not up

I hate the thought of bringing him down to the cellar but it will still be so hot tomorrow and the worry is awful

 

[Amy]

My body is covered with neurodermitis and heat-rash it’s been so humid here, and I suppose the stress did the rest.

Nibbles is in the cellar, he’s not on his own there are a few spiders to keep him company
He had a snuff around did his check list: food treats house with bedding wheel sand bath done
And then he went jogging. It didn’t take him long to get back to his usual self: full of beans!
He’s been grooming and stretching. I will go back frequently and check on him. But when I walked back up I got hit in the face with the heat what a difference

Vet lady is so clever lucky Nibbles I wouldn’t mind staying down there the difference between 21 and 28 degrees is huge

Bless I have just come back down he is building his nest
He is such an uncomplicated sweet little hammy

I am debating on whether to grab an old blanket and sleep down here next to the cage. It’s so nice and cool.
