I am debating on whether to grab an old blanket and sleep down here next to the cage. It’s so nice and cool.

Unfortunately there is also not that much space. It a lovely cellar room but not very big.
He’s loving the coolness. Injustice came to say night night and brought him a piece of apple he was on his wheel but stoped when he saw the apple

This is the setup, he has plenty of bedding in the house, but I put the hemp mat in rather than new wood shavings, the hemp mat has his scent and isn’t dusty. I think it will be okay for one or at the most two days.

I hate leaving him down there, but it’s so unbearable up here, i think it’s better for him

I can’t sleep due to the heat it’s 26 degrees but so humid we are having a dry thunderstorm and i sat outside for a while watching it and eating strawberries
At 2.30 am I went down to check on Nibbles, he was having a run. I had a chat told him i am missing him and he sat in the wheel listening and bruxing. Then he had a wash and carried on running. He looks very happy. I set the tiny light for another two hours. Then I will switch it on orange in the morning to give a kind of daylight effect. It was the best decision to take him down, he had really missed his running I will post the little lamp incase anyone is interested, it’s great for hamsters night night

What a nice lamp. It's great that he can get back to training without worrying about the heat.I think a good hamster mommie would take her pups to a cooler place in the hot weather

I went to check on Nibbles this morning at nine. I put the lamp on after calling his name and his little head popped up out of a huge pile of bedding. He had taken all the bedding and dragged it to the corner where he always sleeps!
He sniffed my hand (looked like a little mole) and dived back into his hole. I put more schredded toilet paper in there incase he needed more and left the little lamp on a dim orange setting for 6 hours. He had no intention of coming up with me! Not surprised although the heatwave has passed it’s still 26 in the flat and rising to 31 outside. Tonight the lowest temperature will reach 26 at 10 and still be too hot to bring him up I guess. Monday they have forecasted rain and max 25 degrees so I am hoping to bring him back up Monday night. It’s got to be a cooler temperature in here, as he will be used to the cool.
He is such a sweet boy, I hate not having him here, but it would be selfish to bring him up today just because it’s a few degrees cooler.
If he shows signs of wanting to get out tonight i will have to check if it’s cooled down enough and stack loads of ice under the cage

I feel so bad that in didn’t place the house in the right place
You should have seen his little face, he clearly thought: what the heck is she doing here?

Just had another check on Nibbles, he’s fine
So happy that I moved him, the heat is terrible in my flat
It’s suppose to be getting better after Monday, fingers crossed. I am so happy i ordered the ac.
The weather is getting worse and I wouldn’t want to keep taking him down to the cellar, this was just an emergency

That's excellent. I've heard that it can be good to have a large bucket for ac's as the dehumidifier produces quite a lot of water. But I do envy you

It’s got a large tank, but I am still very sceptical, I will let you know if it works
I am missing Nibbles very much
I can’t keep going down and waking him up.

Yes, all ac's are sold out in the UK, possibly forever . I am very interested in case they are eventually back in stock one day.
Poor Mum, but it is safer to have Nibbles in a cooler place

Yes it’s better for Nibbles but it’s very hard. Tomorrow it will start to get cooler here. I hope tomorrow evening it’s cool enough in the flat to let him come back

I have just been down with his veggies. He crawled out of his nest and checked what I had got. He stuffed everything in his pouches after sniffing my fingers, cracked the monkey nut and grabbed his yogurt drop and some food and toddled back into his nest. He buried everything neatly scratching like a dog burrying a bone
I was amazed how much bedding he has got in that corner only to realise he had dragged everything out of the mch! He is such a sweet little hammy. I will go down at 10 his getting up time. I am taking two candles (battery ones) and put the timer on for 4 hours in the meantime I am loading the little lamp which I will take down in the morning for during the day (imitating daylights as lovely vet suggested). He seems very content. I do not like the smell of cellars, it’s not mouldy but earthy smelling, but as my mum said: it’s the most natural smell for a hamster
