Awww she is so sweet
That's so great to hearI had suspicions , but when I saw wound properly at vets ( cos he scruffs to pick up which I can't do ) it didn't seem like he was , vet was very pleased with him.
Scruffing isn't ideal as it can damage hamster's eyesThat's so great to hearI'm always impressed with how good vets are at handling hams, I don't think I'd have the hand eye coordination for a little robo
Oh my vet is an amazing surgeon and definitely knows what he is talking about. He can just be a little rough with all of em.sometimes ,especially with the scruffing ,he is fearful of a bite . I do think Robin would have him though if she could, she hisses at him. But if I hold her ,she will let him examine . However ,the robos have to be scruffed, they just won't stay still for anyone sadly.Beautiful video, gorgeous Robin! We have to have faith in our vets, especially when it comes to our precious little hammys.Ness
I used to work with vets years ago, I wanted to be a veterinarian assistant. Most vets develop a fear of getting bitten, after many bites, kicks, trodden on toes or been squashed (if they work with both small and larger animals). It’s not an easy job at all. I couldn’t handle it. The worst for me were the people who couldn’t let go of their pets could not be persuaded to put an end to the suffering. Yes ,I know it's safe if done properly, but he doesn't support her bum( I have asked him to) I wouldnt say and infuriated me when he dangled her over a bin to shake her poop off when she was pooping through stress. I said I would hold her from now on. I know it's a hard job,but at least be kind to pets when the owner is actually standing right there in front of you, especially our little ones .I wouldn't say he is bad on purpose ,I just think he doesnt think as he handles so manyI used to work with vets years ago, I wanted to be a veterinarian assistant. It was heartbreakingI drove home crying my eyes out multiple times. A lot of vets scuff animals, but know how to do this without harming them. It looks awful, but better than them escaping and falling of the table. We used to ask the owners if they could hold their animals whilst being examined. Most of them rejected this
I have learned amazing vets in the past, my currant vet has become a good friend. When we had to put my cat out of her misery in February, he and his assistant cried their eyes outI was hugging and comforting him, I cried later…. for weeks.
I totally agree with you,but our robos have been dropped by the vet before now,so we can't win either way.As a forum, we can't endorse scruffing as it can cause injuries. Unfortunately some vets do this routinely. Careless scruffing can do a lot of damage. You don't want to take your pet to the vet only for him or her to come out with an additional problemWe don't want people to say it's OK because my vet does it. Protective gloves where possible are a much better option.
