March monthly thread - Raffy and other things

How lovely to have a garden and grow flowers. I have never had a garden and do not know anything about them. I remember you have trouble with rabbits eating everything you try and grow. 😉

The video of Raffy is so cute and funny! He happily walked into the tube right away but then decided he did not want to hop out and into his cage. 😂 He is so beautiful. I really love his colouring. 😍

Actually it's not a crocus - might be a snowflake,

Aw thank you Rainbow. It is nice having a garden but I can't do that much in it these days which is a bit frustrating. I can cut the lawn, and the shrubs and bulbs take care of themselves, but weeding is quite a challenge now, with my knees and bending! I've been pushing with the GP's recently to get a specialist referral.

Yes those darned rabbits decimated the garden about 3 years ago. They seem to be under control now.

Gardening always looks like a lot of hard work so I can understand that.

It's sort of enjoyable hard work. Getting your hands dirty and some fresh air, despite weeding being a bit tedious. You get that satisfaction from having done and tidied things up. A bit like cleaning the house - only you know it won't stay like that for long! I've never particularly enjoyed a lot of gardening though - I just liked the results. Five years of results got decimated by the rabbits though unfortunately. But what's left is easy to look after.

Day 3

Today it actually looks like Spring outside. Puffy white clouds and a bit of sunshine. Although still a bit damp. The daffodils are out on the verges in the area, but not yet in the garden. The garden daffodils are always a bit late flowering. So there's quite a gap between the snowdrops and daffodils here as the rabbits ate all the crocus bulbs! So I gave up with crocuses. The few daffodils are safe though, as are the bluebells, which spread every year. The bluebells won't be out till late April/May, but the green leaves have started appearing already.

One lone flower in the back garden! And some dwarf narcissi not yet in flower. I think the flower/bulb might be a white crocus actually as it doesn't look like a snowdrop and the snowdrops in the front have all finished now. Horticulturists welcome to identify!

A clump of daffodils in the grass in the front, not yet flowered - and the dark green clumps are bluebell leaves.

It's always tricky trying to do a first cut of the front lawn before it gets too long as the lawn is full of bluebells, which spread each year. So either you have to do a first cut, weaving round the leaves - which is tricky. Or, as usually happens, that doesn't get done in time and it's a case of waiting till the bluebells have finished some time in May, by which time the grass is very tall! The grass doesn't actually look like it needs cutting at the moment so it will probably get left till May now.

And here's a video of Raffy. This is how he goes back to his cage after his free roam. If I can easily see him he happily walks into a tube if it's offered. If I can't see him I have to call his name a few times and eventually he appears and walks into a tube :) On this occasion he was being cheeky. He normally just climbs out of the tube and into his cage. But he kept turning round in the tube, wanting to come out again :ROFLMAO: . Sometimes he does this, but this time he did it more than usual. Maybe it was because he was being filmed.

He is so adorable! OK Mom, night Mom! ❤️

Actually the wall round the garden isn't that old - but the stones it was built with might be quite old :) Parts of it were with stone from a garage that was knocked down.

Actually yes, the part you can see on that photo is older - that wall was maybe built about 75 years ago. The house is much older though!

Ha ha…he really didn’t want to go back in! It could be a different variety of snowdrop 🤔

He's a cheeky monkey :-) Did you see that energetic leap at the end! He leaps into the tube a bit like that as well. Yes it may be a snowflake rather than a snowdrop, although I'm sure I didn't plant it!

The area around the bird bath is Charlie's flower bed. :) It was just the one flower bed originally but extended lengthwise and depthwise. Did anyone notice the rainbow bridge door?

Certainly did and was delighted to see that it was still there. Knew it was Charlie’s. Still missed

I saw the beautiful rainbow but felt it may be intrusive to mention it. :)

Charlie was always a very special boy and deserved his little garden area.
My favourite memory of Charlie’s photos is him sitting in his donut bed!❤️

Do you mean this one?

I still have that blanket :-) It's designated "the hamster blanket". It has a few holes in now, that Newt managed to chew through the top of a pet carrier.

Actually that just brought quite a lump to my throat.
