Yes I can see it would be best to leave Clive as he is. I couldn't remember if the Plaza was still occupied. Sounds tricky having anything solid sided and top opening under a table - depending on how tall the table is! If a front opening door on a bin cage had a cover, Lily may feel a bit shut in maybe though. I don't envy you working this one out!

The table is tall and made to accommodate a cage underneath on a trolley. Rescue hamsters have lived in that spot in Hamster Heavens but the space isn't long or wide enough for a duna maxi.

I'm going to make a flap for the bin cage door to come down when a hamster is freeroaming but it will be up at other times.

Lilly gets annoyed when someone is freeroaming that's not her anyway. She's been out for ages this afternoon and had the whole space to herself so she's not a poor neglected little dwarf. No doubt, when she sees someone freeroam tonight, she'll act like she never gets out.

Lilly is like a reincarnation of Clarissa. Their personalities are so alike.

I feel that about Raffy - he is very similar to Newt - and a similar colour. Not the same but very similar. He seems quite fearless which is unusual in a hamster. He doesn't seem to like cameras though! I took a photo of him on New Year's Eve at the front of the cage and he went all funny and decided not to come out. No flash and it was quiet but I had pointed a thing at him.

True, there aren't that many photos of Raffy and that would explain it.

Not recently. He comes out so late at night these days! And it's dark. Usually when I'm too tired to take photos and just about to go to bed! Raffy keeps me up late! I'm sure there'll be more of him soon :)

Hmm, another idea is swirring around my head now. I could attach an acrylic panel on the inside of Lilly's door to stop her from climbing it. The door is the only place she climbs.

Also, she climbs on top of her carrot house which sits on a corner shelf directly under the tube hole that is closed off with the end cap. I could, in theory, open this by removing the cap or the little plastic square and place a wire top from a small cage there (secured by cable ties) with a wooden panel or thick cardboard/grassmat floor to give her a loft room with her flying saucer in it. Or use a small bin cage/transport box i have several of in various sizes to prevent her from climbing.
It would free up burrowing space in her cage and it would be very easy to do.

Need to add an acrylic panel to her door yet to stop her from climbing it but run out of time and i got hungry.

She seems to like it. I really want this area with the saucer as coconut fibre or soil but couldn't find any yet so used aspen in the whole area for now.

Is there some sort of access from the cage or is it more a play bin?

She can access it from her cage. I've watched her climb on top of her carrot house which sits on top of a shelf looking for a way out via one of the blocked tube holes before. I took the end cap off and cut a hole in the base of the box so she can get up to the loft. I meshed the lid of the box for ventilation. Another place for her to go.

I must try and get Lilly on video when she moves through her tube run on her back. She's done it again just now. She does use her paws to push herself along. I didn't see that properly the first time i saw her doing it.

That sounds so cute! I hope you can catch it on video some time.

I've just cut out an acrylic panel and attached it to the inside of Lilly's door. Who knows how that's going to go down with her....

One more thing that doesn't work for her is the big house on the left which also acts as a platform. She doesn't seem to use it. She either sleeps in the substrate or the carrot house.
I could either make it into a freestanding platform or replace it with another big shelf. I think the shelf might be better because it would open up more burrowing space.
