Today, when I was checking the playpen, I saw a small green bug. I think it was because I forgot seed in there for a while. I put it outside and thought "Surely there aren't more of them", but there were. When I was washing the playpen, a bunch of tiny black insect eggs(? )got stuck to my hand and two of the green bugs that I hadn't noticed drowned in the water. Now, the playpen is in the clothes hanger, drying, and I didn't see any more eggs or bugs, but is it too late for it? Could there be microscopic eggs in there? I used dishsoap and water when washing it and scrubbed with the soft part of the sponge.

Oh sorry to hear that - is it a fabric one that can be washed? If so, if you do it on a boil wash it should kill anything, but not all washing machines do a full boil wash. It can't be baked or frozen. Hmm. Do you have a 90 degree wash option on your washing machine?

Never mind, I

It's nylon with netting. I'm not sure if it would survive the washing machine tbh. I think the eggs are gone now. I inspected every part of the playpen and no bug eggs.

I was thinking the same - you don't want bugs back in his cage again. Unless it's something that can be disinfected.

After thinking about it more, I decided to throw it away and buy a new one. I think I'll use a ball-pit for a playpen this time.
I have the Songmics panel one,you can choose how big you build it then, and is very easy to disinfect. Some put it together with cable ties so that it can be folded away, but I just leave mine up permanently .

Would it be easy to disinfect though for bug eggs? Presumably lots of little crevices? But maybe easy to spray those crevices yes.

Depending on what bugs they are, white vinegar kills some bug eggs and that could be sprayed - but you need to get into crevices.

Yes ,I have done it ,I also soaked it in disinfectant in the bath ,so Def got into the crevices.

It looks nice, but I couldnt find it sold on any website.

Amazon were stocking it
I dont shop from Amazon, but I looked around and I couldnt find it. I think Songmics doesn't sell this product here. They usually sell home supplies like chairs and shelfs.

I also looked on amazon Turkey but it just came up with a blank page saying out of stock. Can you get things from a site called trendyol? Google said they stock songmics things. Other than that one of the popup playpens or ball pits would work. Not so easy to disinfect but hopefully it wouldn't happen again.

I checked out trendyol and couldnt find playpen. There are other Songmics products though. I think I'll buy a ball-pit or fabric children's playpen.

Seconding the click-and-connect type of enclosures for playpens! It's not really foldable or super space-efficient, but it's relatively small in storage (sits on the floor between my enclosure and the wall) and I can change the shape of the playpen any time I want. They're also plastic, easy to disinfect. I would get one that's paneled rather than grid-shaped simply for fear of hamsters being able to climb out.

Rosewood Woody's caterpillar for scale. :ROFLMAO:
