Hi I'm new to this forum. Ive got a syrian hamster and im getting another on Friday. They will be in separate cages from pets at home. I'm looking for a set of shelves that will house both cages. Any ideas much appreciated x

Hello and welcome! You'll have your hands full with two Syrian hamsters! It sounds exciting as well :-) I'm guessing they are barred cages if you're looking for shelves. Which cages did you get? There are various options for shelves. The other thing is, it helps to get the right cage suitable for a Syrian, so we might be able to advise on that too - sometimes people wish they had got a different one, but it can always be exchanged! Some people have exchanged them even after a hamster has moved into it.

So it needs to be approximately 100cm x 50cm and also tall enough to fit an 11" wheel plus about 8" of bedding depth. Although if it's not as tall as that, there may be work arounds. Pets at home do sell the Habitat 3 that'a about 100cm and a reasonable price - is it one of those? Some people find those ok with a deep bedding end but the doors can be a bit small which means taking the barred top off sometimes.

Is your current syrian male or female? :-) Females are notorious for needing a lot of space!

I have a lovely omlet cage for my hamster, Kulfi. Pets at home sell a really good one that is 100 x 50 called the savic plaza. There is a bigger plaza as well if you have more space.

I like the omlet one because the bars are really strong and don't bend when I put things (eg tubs of food) on top.

I have my cage on top of a chest of drawers. It hangs over it by a couple of cms each side.

Look forward to pics of your hamsters once you get them.
