Oh no I'm so sorry. This one might not need surgery, but he will need to see the vet again. Hopefully it's just something like an inflamed scent gland - it's quite common for them to get infected - but the vet will know better when she sees it :-)

Glad to hear that! Is there anything i can do before i get him to vet? Actually yesterday i just took him to vet again because of his eye irriration, but no worries its getting better. Him eating fishcake was yesterday photo, and the second photo i just took it moments ago and its already half opened after the ointment, but for this lump in his scent gland area is there anything i can do? My doctor is open to do online consultation , is that okay to do that only? I just came back from vet yesterday, and just noticed his lump night after it🥹

Aw - that seems very unfair on you and Gilbert - and poor thing has an eye infection as well. So the vet gave ointment for that? You could maybe ask the vet about a course of antibiotics orally rather than ointment - and see if both improve. He looks very sweet eating his fishcake :-)

I would wait to speak to the vet about his scent gland.

Oh yeah i got antibiotics orally too! 😊 oh also, what should i do in the meantime to treat his scentgland?

Oh right so he's already on oral antibiotics then? Is he taking that ok? It tastes nasty., I don't think there's much you can do about his scent gland until you speak to the vet. You could maybe gently clean it with saline but it doesn't look like it needs cleaning particularly, just diagnosing and treating. Personally I wouldn't stress him with cleaning or dabbing it and wait to speak to the vet tomorrow.

No i just gave him ointment but not the oral medicine yet, hes still asleep. Yeah the doctor told me aswell gilbert wouldn’t like the taste🥲 doctor let me to mix it with vitagel (his fav vitamin) but is it better to mix with the water? Oh also. My doctor just replied my text about his scent gland. Im so glad its not tumor🥺

Is that a vet? It's a scent gland. If you haven't started the oral antibiotics yet then I would start them - it is difficult to disguise the taste but one option is to draw a tiny bit of runny honey into the syringe after the meds and then the hamster just tastes the honey. What is the dose? They are very tiny amounts usually.

As the scent glad is red and maybe a bit swollen, it could be infected also so the antibiotics for the eye could help that as well. They can get blocked.

Good luck with the vet appointment. I think for a new issue it's better to let the vet do a hands on examination 🙏❤️🐾
