Henry

He's amazing! He seems so active and well for his age. Maybe a slight waddle now but he seems a very happy ham :-) I always love watching Henry.

He does, it's pretty noticable. Henry does have a very good vet, she's amazing  The good news is his speed has improved a bit, when he wants to he can still do a good scurry. I will keep an eye on him, and try the metacam again if it looks like his joints are hurting

They can be pretty speedy on the level in old age, even if climbing becomes a struggle :-)

Henry is all nice and cozy in his new sleep spot. He has it just the way he likes it.

I have to up my adventure game, he's slower but I noticed he's foraging extra. Henry needs a scavenger hunt that's larger than the play area, next time I will hide some bits to find throughout the place

The bigger scavenger hunt was great for Henry, he was out half an hour tonight. I snapped two pumpkin seeds in half, and set them around the place. He found 3 of the 4 pieces, and played with his toys too. Henry did some long full speed zoomies, was very happy to see it.

Didn't get any footage, but might next time. I will make some obstacles and hides for him to explore. In case he doesn't care for them the clothes pile will be ready

I always love seeing him enjoying that bottle hide/snack chamber! He has so many things to enjoy - especially the clothes pile :)

Sure enough, on tonight's adventure he had no interest in the new hides. But went right for the clothes pile in my room! We ended it with his favorite treat by the taxi, another half hour of exploring for him.

Henry is putting his speed on display tonight. He did two full speed zoomies from the kitchen back to me, it's great to see. He is absolutely loving the bigger scavenger hunt.

Quite adorable. He is a fit little chap 🥰

Oh wow those really were full zoomies! He's so fast! For an elderly hammy he's amazing. I just had to keep watching it 😂 He's like one of those wind up toys and you let go and its off!

I'm thrilled, he's been going on his wheel for hours. He's moving with no issues tonight, it's like he's young again. He's worried me since the vet with how lethargic he was.

Quite adorable. He is a fit little chap 🥰

Thank you Socks' Mum, he's so precious

It sounds like the antbiotics have helped :-) Is he on any metacam as well? That can sometimes give them a new lease from aches and pains.

Wow, that is a fast little hammy, lovely to see Henry so well

Thanks Hank, I'm so happy to see it too!

Antibiotics were the previous trip a few months ago when he got a respiratory infection. He did get metacam on this recent trip, and took it voluntarily once. It didn't seem to help oddly, he was still waddling a few days after. I'm wondering if he pulled or strained a muscle

How big is the room he's exploring in? Or space, if it's blocked off. I've got to figure something out for Oaky so that I can let her out in a larger space than the bathtub, without having to follow her constantly so that I don't lose her. We used to have a small bedroom that was an office, but it became the "bunny room" when we got rabbits, and it didn't matter much with our last hamster, since over time, he preferred to stay in his cage, but Oaky loves to have out-of-cage time.
