Help needed

bought a second hand bucatstate 3.0 and the base had a crack in it. The people who sold it had taped over it and said that it had been fine. Can anyone recommend something else to help cover the crack please

Hello. That's annoying. I hope you didn't pay too much for it. Do you mean an alternative kind of tape? What kind is it at the moment - duct tape or something? And is the tape on the outside or the inside? If it's on the outside and keeping the crack together, I can't see a problem with it really.

It's on both sides, I think I might take it off clean it all down and then just reapply to the underneath. It's sitting on a unit so the base has plenty of support anyway. Thank you for replying

You’re welcome. I suppose if it’s only on the outside the crack could spread a bit and be a place for a toe to get caught or an srea to chew at. So that’s maybe why it’s in both sides. While it’s not ideal having the tape on the inside, most hamsters would just ignore it and be unaware of it particularly. But then there is always one! It might be better to try repairing the crack on the inside. I think some people have used resin.

An easier option might be to just cover the base on the inside with another sheet of Perspex glued over the crack. The tape in the outside is ok still then.

I think you can buy the base separately, I saw the side bars offered somewhere too. Contact Bucatstate they will know fir sure

If you can’t, maybe add a teeny bit of glue in it? and tape the back? that could work.
