I agree, Hams really reminds me of a cuddly toy. He is just adorable.
How lovely he is enjoying his new sprays.

Raffy: I am trying to save you money! He is such a beautiful hamsterHow funny he stops if he thinks you're looking! I wish Raffy was interested in sprays!
Hi Maz, yes, thought I’d take the flannel for handling incase it helps. I am completely puzzled by it to be honest. I’ve checked his cage so many times and just can’t find anything that could be causing it. At the same time, I’ve never seen him clean the area or nibble at it. Maybe this is the problem because of its location, he hasn’t been able to get to it himself so easily and it could just be a big scab? I didn’t clean it myself as thought it would just dry up and heal. will update later. That is very caring preparation, having him scent the pet carrier and get used to it. I'm sure he'll be fine. Mine have usually gone to sleep in it. Is the soft flannel with his scent for the vet to use to handle him then?
The fact he has a sore that doesn't heal kind of suggests it keeps being caught on something somehow - but maybe it is something else. Have you seen him biting or scratching that area at all?
Thanks Rainbow, kinda hoping he keeps to his routine and I can pop some on when he’s in his travel jug. If not I will lure him with linseeds and do it whilst he’s enjoying thoseYou did so well to keep Hams still at the appointment. It is great that all is okay and you just need to apply ointment. I hope Hams lets you apply it without too much of a struggle.

Thanks Elusive, it really is a mystery. The vet was surprised it’s been there since late April and not healed, but did say their tails are quite hard and not fleshy which maybe why it’s taking time to go away. I felt bad for not taking him sooner but he did say they don’t tend to see many hamsters and he looked Hams over and said he looked well.Glad to hear it all went well at the vet (apart from scary dogs!) it’s good to know it’s nothing serious even though it is still a bit of a mystery, I think him biting himself is a bit unlikely but possible I guess.
Hope it all heals well with the ointment & that’s the end of it.
I’m sure he’ll soon get over today & be back to his normal self.
