Hams had a bit of an off day yesterday, he seemed very quiet and no sooner had I let him out he wanted to just go back home. But he's back on form tonight.

Other than his red tube always in the middle of his playpen, I just move everything else about and mix it up each eve. He's enjoying tonight's exploring.

Hi Beryl, my son was given a selection of body sprays for Christmas and they came wedged into the holes. It’s just been sitting around his room and I thought, I know someone who’ll like this. Sometimes I lay it flat, other times stand it up. Hams fits through the holes and enjoys weaving in and out, it was a fab find for out of cage time

I decided to go for it and buy Hams one of the hanging treats. He seems interested. I'm thinking will he strip it bare like Raffy did? [He's looking super cuddly here] He can nibble it from his shelf or underneath standing on his shoebox nest.

He looks like he's enjoying that already! Raffy has a new one and hasn't stripped it bare yet. Maybe he's got bored with that now! Or maybe he's still nomming his peanut and papaya cookie from his hoard.

Hams has just gone home from his free roam and his pouches were so full it made me laugh out loud, I tried to capture a photo but this one doesn't really do them justice. Not as crammed as Lilly's from the other day though



The hiding of the logs from the forage tray has reached new levels, I'm literally finding them all over the cage each day. I'm beginning to think perhaps it's not a game and he's trying to tell me he doesn't want them there anymore I'm thinking I may alternate between using it and popping a different home made boredom breaker in some eves.

Hams is gorgeous and he always makes me smile when I see him. It's so funny he's still hiding the logs. Maybe leave the hidden logs where they are and put something else in the box.

Aww, Hams is so cute

I find it near impossible to figure hamsters out and have no idea what Hams is doing with the logs.

If you'd put them back in the box he'd probably take them out again for reasons only known to himself.

Hams seems to be having a great time with his logs I wonder what he would do if you took them away. It might be a game, or as you say, it might be that he just doesn't want them there. I'd guess he is chucking them around to get at the food maybe?

No idea what he’s up to with those logs but he does look very cute with his pouches stuffed full!

Thank you all for the feedback/ideas. I’m going to leave the logs where they are today and fill the little tray wt strips of loo rolls / tissue strips pressed down with some seeds hidden in between, see how he likes it, a different type of forage tray.
