Hammy

🤣🤣 yes let’s hope he doesn’t mistake it for an alternative sand tray.

Bizarrely Hams only poops in his nest. I find the odd one in his cage but very rarely. All wees are in the sand tray though so that’s what counts. 😃

I think he mostly is, apart from where his sprays are that’s one messy corner 🫣

It's fair to say this treat has been well received. He's not had one before but definitely liking it 😃

Should I remove it now he's chewed through to what looks like the middle?

The middle is wood so you can leave it until he has completely stripped it.

Which one was it? Here they like the grape and nut best.

He did a good job on that! Definitely a hit 😋
I’d leave it until it’s completely down to the wood too.

I decided to go for it and buy Hams one of the hanging treats. He seems interested. I'm thinking will he strip it bare like Raffy did? [He's looking super cuddly here] He can nibble it from his shelf or underneath standing on his shoebox nest.

I went with the grape and nut after reading the different hamster preferences on here. 👍

Will leave it in place till he's nibbled it all 🙂

It will be interesting to see what Hams does with the tissue.
The first night he took the lot, but since then it's just been thrown around and I've been popping it back in each eve sometimes with a few logs mixed in too.

I think Hams may have hoarded quite a bit to snack from since a good part of it has disappeared already. Clive does that whereas Otto sits and eats from his. Otto's last for ages but Clive's are down to the wood in 2 or 3 days.

Do you hang it from the top bars, or just put it in loose at ground level? I've found they seem to demolish most of it if it's hanging from the top bars next to a shelf maybe - it's more of a challenge perhaps!

I went with hanging from the top bars, he sits on the roof of his nest to reach middle to bottom or from a shelf at the side to reach around the top.

Couldn't resist sharing this one. I'm guessing it means don't come in. This is the entrance to his bed, he's come out tonight and then blocked it in 🤣 (Don't worry Hams I'm not going to check in there today) Although I can't help but think he could be hiding something 🙂 He's still out in the playpen at the mo hamstering around.

Is that the little logs he's blocked his entrance up with?

Yes, they are. He does make me laugh. I've just popped him back in his cage and he's collecting food, guessing he'll be moving a few of these in a min to get back in.

Just had a thought...., guess it could be the lighter mornings/evenings. He has a bridge to cover the entrance but this is a clever idea to keep it extra dark 👍

Haha! Clever Hams. Now you know what he wanted the logs for. To barricade his door with to keep the humans out.

I don't think it's to do with the light. He's keeping his valuables safe.

I think he just loves and obsessed with the little logs! So he found a use for them and to keep them close by.
