Thanks, Maz, yes it was nice to finally see him and not just through night videos. He is very much a food hoarder. Every night he cleans out his food dish of everything except the pellets. He doesn't go for the pellets. LOL! I have also given him occasional pieces of carrot and fresh snap peas. He takes all of those. I often wonder what his food stash looks like. :)

I expect it's very neat and organised. I've always found Robos to be neat and organised :-)

Lovely video, Dusty really is adorable.
Sounds like he’s having a great ime!

I wanted to share that yesterday when Dusty was out drinking from his water bottle at about 10:30PM I decided to offer him some shelled sunflower seeds in my hand. I placed my flattened hand just inside his cage on top of his bedding. He came up to my hand and got on my hand and took all the seeds then he got all the way on my hand and turned around and sat there for a second. I slowly started to lift my hand and he jumped off. So I think that is very good progress.

That's amazing progress! It sounds wonderful.

Dusty was out today after I put his favorite forge material all throughout his cage. I have tried several things and I am learning what he is not interested in. He does not go for dried meal worms, dried food like strawberries and sweet potato and cranberries. He nibbles on dried carrot sometimes. What he likes is the KayTee Food for the Wild Foraging Blend Natural Snack.

I have two types he likes. One is the Hamster and Gerbil blend with Carrots, Roses, Pumpkin seed, Sunflower seed and peanut. The other blend is for all small animals. It has carrot, Marigold, Rose petal, Spinach and Strawberry. When he was out today for a long time, I offered him some sunflower and pumpkin seed on my had two times and he took all the seeds both times but probably because my hands smelled like the forging material I just put in his cage he nipped my hand 4 times. The last time was hard enough my hand moved a little in reaction and he was slightly 'tossed' into the air about a 1/4 inch and he landed on the bedding. He didn't even run away from my hand that was still there. He just stood there for a couple seconds and then continued to forge. I need to make sure my hands don't smell like anything he wants to eat. LOL! But I was happy he is not afraid of my hand.

In fact the second time I put my hand with seeds into the cage he was doing something else and when he saw my hand he came over to it and immediately started taking the seeds. I am glad he isn't timid about my flat hand offering him treats. I am going to upload a couple videos next.

Oh goodness, that's a lovely video! So great to see Dusty enjoying life in his cage :-) He doesn't seem the slightest bit nervous. He must be well settled in now. By the way, would you like to vote in this month's hamster photo competition? :-)

I didn't even know about the photo contest.....I would have entered Dusty. Thanks for letting me know about this, I voted. Maybe I can enter next time.

Dusty doesn't seem nervous to me at all. I can even open the front door of the cage when he is out and he doesn't run away. I think he really likes his home.

Sorry this video didn't work through *****. Here it is on You Tube.

It's lovely seeing him out and about :-) Robos move so fast don't they? Watching him hopping between things there made me miss having a Robo.

Yes there's a photo competition every month :-) Please do enter the next one - it'll start in a few days time, once voting has finished for this month.

OK Thanks! Yes Robos do move fast when they want to go from place to place. LOL!

He'll soon be whizzing! They can have mad moments :-)

There's also a monthly caption competition :-) This one is still running if you want to have a go!

Dusty was out again just now and he was getting a drink. I opened the front door to the cage and slowly I offered more seeds in my flat hand. This time my hand didn't smell like his food. But the first thing he does before
taking the seeds is he nips my finger tip. I had no reaction because I was expecting it. It doesn't hurt. He proceeded to put his front paws on my hand and take all the seeds and I gently removed my hand when the seeds were gone as I didn't want to encourage hims nipping my hand. He doesn't act like he is afraid of my hand at all. So I am wondering why he is nipping me. I read hamster only bite if they are afraid.
Later a few minutes later he was getting another drink and I opened the front door to take pictures. He came right up to the door where my hand usually is as if to be looking for treats. I took some pics and he even put his front paws on the edge of the open door, but I didn't want him to jump or fall out so I gently closed the door. He didn't run away....he just started foraging right where he was.
He is such a funny little guy.
Here is a picture from this morning from when the door was open and I was taking pictures of him. The camera was probably about 6 inches away and he was ok, not afraid at all. Of course the house was very quiet at the time and no one else was around, but I feel good about his calmness when I am around.
