getting more bedding tomorrow and gonna put cardboard up so I can put more bedding in!

It looks great. Maybe have a few more floor toys in the middle when you've added the bedding :-) A tube or hidey place eg. I see you've got the green silent runner, which is the extra deep one isn't it?

It does look nice but I agree with Maz, once you’ve got the extra bedding in add some more in there & don’t be afraid to fill up the space.

It looks really nice but I agree with the suggestions. I find with a hamster cage you do not need to worry about being neat. They prefer more clutter. The more bedding the better too.🙂

Yes! It is. He absolutely LOVES it. i’ll try to clutter it up more!

So glad he loves it.

Draco is now bar climbing :( I’m going to have to do something/upgrade his enclosure.

There is a lot fo bar space in the cage so you could try adding some shelves that bolt on to the bars, or ledges like lava ledges, cork or wooden ones to make things safer, hang some chew toys or sprays from the bars to distract from climbing & he may climb the bars less when you have more in the cage to keep him busy.

I'd give Draco more enrichment and out of cage time before thinking of an upgrade.

Have a look a Raffy's (Maz's Syrian hamster) Savic Plaza set up for ideas.

thank you for the tips!! i’ll try that.

I also started thinking- he’s used to a light on at night, and I was away until 2 AM, so there was no light, so maybe that freaked him out a bit.

okay, i’ll try that. there is a medium niteangel cage near me for $125 i’m tempted to get. It’s on FB marketplace.

Isnt the medium Niteangel cage 76cm? I would not waste your money as that is below minimum size and you will struggle to fit all Dracos things in it. Wouldnt it be smaller then your current cage?

the dimensions that is listed on amazon are:
39.4 x 19.7 x 19.7

I think it’s bigger then my cage. mine is around 600 square feet and this one is somewhere around 776 square feet!

Oh I see. Am I right in thinking you are in US? If so it may be an idea to get a tank. You seem to get really great tanks cheaply. That is if you choose to upgrade. 75 gallon tank is the usual size I see people in US keeping hamsters in. 🙂

If the Niteangel cage is near you there's no harm in having a look at it and take a tape measure to check the size.

I thought about a tank, but they’re all $200 or more on FB marketplace. I am in the US! so I may go look at petco- sometimes they have sales on tanks

It’s highly unlikely he’d be upset by not having a light on, it’s best for them to have darkness at night, having a light on too much at night can interrupt their circadian rhythms, they need to have a fairly natural light cycle.

Oh yes, wait for the sales as they do a dollar a gallon! Its such a bargain. 🙂
