Do I rinse slate (and how) before putting it in the enclosure?

After one abysmal attempt at ordering slate that arrived as both Definitely Not Slate and way too dusty to be safe (since returned and refunded), I have since gotten proper slate delivered this morning...but it's still dusty. I'm gonna guess I rinse it off, but is there a special process to make sure all the dust gets washed off, do I have to do something to inhibit potential mold growth, and how do I ensure it's dried properly?

First timer here, terrified of doing wrong by this little guy. I've had him a day and I already love him.

Hi there. If it's slate it's waterproof so it's fine to just rinse it off and leave it to dry :-)
