Can playpens be washed

I havent been letting Topaç in the pen lately, because he didn't like it when I put him for the first two times, but I think it could have been because I put the playpen in the other side of the house back then. Maybe if I put it in the same room as his cage, his reaction would be difficult. The issue is, since I didn't plan to use it, I put it on top of a closet where it accumulated dust and bird droppings(from my own birds). I'm thinking of throwing it in the washing machine and then the dryer, but would it be safe? It's made out of nylon and netting.

I don't think it would survive the dryer. They dry very quickly just in the air or on a washing line. I would wash it by hand in a bath tub. You can keep it folded up during the wash and just scrub the bits that have dirt on them with some soap. I hope it turns out OK

Agree with Socks Mum Or maybe just wipe it down with a damp cloth and a light spray with pet disinfectant?

Would the vinegar/water mix I use be okay?

Vinegar doesn't kill all bugs, only some. It depends if it needs disinfecting. Maybe the bird poo means it does? It might put Topac off if it smelled of vinegar as well although the smell should wear off in a few hours

Vinegar could eat through plastic finishes, so I would recommend plain dish soap and then letting it air well, in the sun outdoors if possible
