All my piggies!

I had no idea a guinea pig's anatomy is so complex. Going by Ivy's current size, i suppose anything could happen. At least she's in safe hands now.

While I was weighing her today I could feel the start of skeletal development which is exciting. So it looks like we're at the end of week 5/the start of week 6!

She is currently 1055g and still very well in herself.

Brilliant. The wait won't be quite so long then. Honestly, i can't wait to see the new babies. Ivy is so beautiful. I wonder if one will look like her mum.

I cant wait to meet them either 😅 I'm secretly hoping one will look like Ivy because I've already got a name for them if so.

I am so excited, last night and this morning I felt the babies moving! Last night they were just shifting about, but this morning they kicked my hand 🤣

So that means we are at week 7, we have 1-3 weeks left until birth, depending on the various factors.

Oh wow, it looks like they will arrive soon then! Ivy is so beautiful. I wonder if the babies will look like her.

Ivy is definitely beautiful. She looks very happy and content there. It must be hard with the waiting!

Shes doing so well bless her. Active, jumping around, eating and drinking well still and the babies are in there playing football 🤣 I got these videos yesterday of the little ones moving around.

Wow, I wonder how many babies Ivy will have. She seemed relax despite the wriggling babies.

I've predicted 3 babies on the 3rd of September 😅 but we'll see.

Shes a very chilled piggy, enjoys a lie down.

So am I, the dads were longhaired so from what little I understand of genetics there's a lot of recessive genes going on so really, they could come out as anything.. little liquorice allsorts 😅

I love that. Thats what the babies could be known as. The liquorice allsorts!

Bit of an update on the piggies, we will start with the not so nice in that Ebony developed very sudden liquid diarrhoea and in spite of mine and my vets best efforts, she passed away over the weekend 😔 now we're certain it was nothing contagious, her friend Mabel will be bonded into the bigger herd tomorrow.

In better news, Ivy is still doing extremely well, although still incredibly pregnant. She is due any day now pretty much, her pelvic bones are open and she's massive. Babies are still kicking away happily and she's eating like a trooper.

I am so sorry you lost Ebony. What a horrid shock for you.

Good luck bonding Mabel into the herd. I hope they all get on with each other.

Oh gosh, poor Ivy really looks like she will give birth very soon! Best of luck for her and the babies.

I'm so sorry for the loss of Ebony. It must have been distressing and unexpected. Play well over the Rainbow Bridge Ebony x

Ivy does look absolutely enormous! Can she actually walk?!

Thankyou, it really was a shock, she had been so well until that point.

She can still walk, surprisingly she can also jump! She's been hopping over the odd hay pile, but she is choosing to lay down as much as she can for the most part. If she isnt moving very far, she prefers to army crawl across the floor 😅

So sorry for the loss of beautiful Ebony.

I hope Ivy has those babies soon so she doesn't have to army crawl, poor thing.
