A week starting on a Wednesday 😅

I had to clean nearly all of sand out of his toilet
I didn’t wash it out though, I thought maybe a bit his smell is better to be left. I refilled it and put a few treats next to the toilet, as he had stored his broccoli in there again. So he will get his veggies in the playpen in future.

Ah yes. If I wasn't quick enough with the hamster taxi, Socks would do a little chin up onto the door, which opened up to form a sort of ramp, and start climbing down rather cautiously. Even when he was quite old, he would still rather proudly do his chin up if I was too slow

It’s amazing how quick they things that’s are convenient for them just one gap and they will find it from mikes away.

When I put him back and closed the door, he would rather hopefully do his little chin up and dangle, gazing at me pleadingly. He wanted to carry on using his wheel in the playpen

I never had any problems with paper bedding. I can't use it on the guinea pigs as they really open the sluice gates, but if I could I would I think it is the best bedding for hamsters

I think I will order some more and switch to paper bedding. I can get Kaytee clean and cosy, that is highly recommend. Anything is better than wood shavings imam sure.

Day 6
What a day… it was supposed to rain again, now we have sunshine and wind.
I just got home. Nibbles is in the en-suite, reading the times?
Today I am going to optimise the playpen / climb out. I had ordered some Bucatstate bedding at TEMU, they sent me two presents, a small hamster tent (hmm not my cup of tea) and a ladder if I had known I could have spared my time building the one yesterday!! I will see which one he prefers.

The set up is much better, when not finished yet but the ladder is easy for him to approach and everything is very sturdy.
If he likes this ladder I will put the cork from my self built on the ramp.

It’s nice to be able to let more circulation in when I am at home. that’s the negative thing about the tank houses.

It looks very nice and I’m sure fine if you’re supervising, but he could escape unfortunately. Any hides etc near the edge he can just climb onto and climb out. Hard to tell how steep the ladders are but they may be a bit steep.

He can’t climb out of the play pen, it’s far too high. The ladders are both not very steep, but I will be here when he gets out. I have folded the quilt four times it is very soft. I am sure he will benefit as he doesn’t really like taxis. He his very independent and likes to things on his own. I will see how it goes, it’s better than yesterday’s edition

Polo my guinea pig has one like it, but bigger and not as fluffy He likes to hop into it in cold weather. It has a little removable pad I take out and wash

It is sweet but I would rather have it in a plain colour but I don’t want be ungrateful. I wonder what Nibbkes will think? No sign of him yet, he took his broccoli t though

Things are progressing far better than I could have wished for
There was no food in the toilet today, just a quite impressive amount of pee
I am really going through the exclusive sand that I bought him, but that doesn’t matter
I would never have thought a hammy pees so much in 24 hours.
The treats I put him in his en-suite were gone and what amazed me is that the toilet is always covered with paper bedding such a clean little hammy.
I had to hold my hand next to the ladder ti show him the way, but he boldly marched down and was not skittish or frightened.
He is happily in his playpen and tomorrow night he can stay longer as Thursday is a bank holiday both of us are happy

I have cleaned his en-suite, he actually sleeps in the house now (shorter distance to the loo?) but I didn’t not need to clean the bed.

Lovely, it sounds like Nibbles has settled into his nice house perfectly. He might be opting for the darkest corner of his MCH for his bedroom. He is such a smart hammy. Nice that you have a holiday coming up
