I think Jellybean will be fine in his carrier as you have planned it. Having a light blanket over it is a great idea. He might be a bit restless at first, but I think they usually take cover soon and sleep their usual hours in the carrier. It is a good thing if he has his familiar scent in the carrier, some used bedding should be reassuring

It sounds ok Although I noticed you mentioned fluffy filling? If that is fluffy type bedding, it's not safe for hamsters - for their nesting area it's best to use torn up strips of plain white toilet paper.

Also when you get to your holiday area, I assume you'll be able to set the cage up in one room and leave it there the entire time? When I took a hamster on holiday with us (it was a holiday house so easy to leave his cage in the same place), I also bagged up all the bedding from his cage, and most of the contents, and took those as well to set up at the other end, so everything smelled familiar. I think that's quite important.

Generally though it is better to leave the hamster at home and have a trusted pet sitter come in daily. They can give you updates and you can even still watch on a petcam on your phone from a distance.

Yes, the bedding is the soft bedding from Pets at Home- it’s like ripped up toilet paper but has a softer, more comfortable feature. I am aware of the bagged fluff you can also get- that is definitely unsafe for hammies- but I assume the one I use is safe?

Ok - do you have a picture or a link for it please? It sounds like it might be a safe one and not the fluffy stuff

He should be OK with you though. I know what you mean about having a pet sitter. You have to find someone really reliable who understands hamsters and that can be tricky Taking all his bedding is a good idea

That looks fine if it's just paper Just a forum tip - it helps to hit return after you type so the photo comes out below the typing rather than above it It's just a quirk of the system. If the cursor is at the end of the line of typing the photo pushes the line of typing down. Don't worry, it happens to a few people.
