Lovely to see another Chinesey on the forum, he must be loving it in there with all that substrate to burrow in.

Thank you everyone.
At the moment his absolute favourite thing in his cage is the bucatstate sandbath, he spends most of his time in there. he’s pushed all the sand to one side and he’s slowly filling the other side with bedding. Anyone have any ideas why he might be doing that??

They do the strangest things sometimes! It sounds as though he could be making a little nest in there possibly. Is it still warm where you are? Just wondering if it might be a cool spot?

That’s a good point about finding somewhere cool elusive. It’s been so hot here but it’s getting a lot cooler today.
It’s fascinating watching him investigate his cage. At the moment he’s not fussed with his wheel but again that might be due to the heat again which I hadn’t considered before
I had to google the dog RB. Looks amazing and they have a great nameI also love his name. Did you choose his name after the bred of dog?
The name is a character in Blue Beetle apparently…. The kids were in charge of naming

Xolo disappeared for two days. In the first week he was out and about a lot while we were around and when he slept he was always by the glass or in his sand bath so we could see him all the time But then he was nowhere to be seen, I only knew by the state of his wheel that he’d be very active at night
Last night he came out and was exploring so me and my daughter got to watch him for a while which was lovely and he didn’t seem to mind that we were right next to him chatting away
BUT I hadn’t changed his water or scattered his food so after a while when I opened his cage I spooked him and he went into hiding again
I think it’s going to take a long time taming Xolo but it was so lovely to see him again, he’s such a cutie
