Hi

I usually buy our wee hammy food from Pets at Home, but I've noticed recently they are quite often out of stock for several items I usually buy.

Would be interested to know where you guys buy your food online.

Thanks!

Hello Thams. If you shop online then I recommend Getzoo or Mixarama. :)

I use Mixerama too, I think their food is better than Getzoo, delivery is really expensive now though.

Where you looking for specific items you normally get from P@H?
You can get some brand foods from Viovet.
For forage type things I use Bunny bistro & Rat rations quite often.

Hi E, I'm checking them out, thanks!

Vetsend have the Bunny foods which are quite good, and some other brands too.

I buy my hamsters food at an aquatics/reptile shop that sells some hamster stuff and buy The Little One mix.

Forage and enrichments i get at small independent petshops. Substrate at a garden centre.

I think it's worthwhile checking out shops other than petsathome.

Yeah Beryl, force of habit with me. Willing to be educated though :)

Also depends on what you are looking for and what kind of hamster you have.
If you have a Syrian and feed Harry Hamster you can get that in allsorts of shops including Wilko, home bargains, The Range etc but food for dwarfs isn't so easy to find.
I used to buy Bunny Dreams from Zooplus until they stopped selling it and then bought it from Vetsend until i went into the reptile shop for a cork tunnel and found dwarf food.

I get the Bunny Dream mix (Syrian and Dwarf mix) from Vetsend. They are pretty reliable. And I get Harry Hamster and Science Selective from Amazon. Viovet and PAH also sell Harry Hamster online. For my Syrian I mix Harry Hamster and Bunny dream 50/50. Which slightly increases the protein level of the Bunny Dream mix, so not so much supplementation needed.

There are quite a few German mixes but you need to be careful as some require you to add the protein separately and it's not always easy to work out.

The Little One mix is popular as well (Syrian and Dwarf versions) but also a bit low in protein so protein needs supplementing.

She's a Syrian. I've been into my local B&M, but all they sell for hamsters is corn :(

Thanks for that, Maz. Not heard of some of these, but will definitely check them out :)

Harry Hamster will be fine for a Syrian and has the correct protein as well. What do you usually feed her? The petsathome own mix isn't that great and neither are pellets.

This is the Bunny Dream One. It’s got quite expensive. It’s only available online.

This is Tiny Friends Harry Hamster. It’s available in a lot of places - I’m sure some pet shops would have it. Or you can buy it online in various places. If you’re looking for something simple that contains everything needed and isn’t too expensive then Harry Hamster is probably a good bet. It’s sugar free and contains the correct level of protein. It has monkey nuts and whole sunflower seeds in. It may not have as much variety as some mixes but it’s a good basic diet.

Whereas the Bunny dream one on its own would need to protein supplementing and also has much smaller pieces and Syrians seem to like the larger pieces in Harry Hamster.

The PAH own brand one is really bad so Harry Hamster would be a lot better.

I usually feed her Muesli and Vitakraft treats. She occasionally has fruit, lettuce, walnuts and mealworms - not all at the one time! I alternate between them.

Thanks, Maz. I mainly buy online because I don't drive and the nearest pet shop to me is quite a journey away.

I get mine from Amazon and PetSmart. (I'll be getting PetSmart food SOON, not just yet. I've got a bag to finish)
